Rhys, bruh.
At least we don’t have the play the Cardinals again until next year.
Welp hello wild card series. Just really sad. Actually impressive to have 3 Ks in the 10th with an auto runner in scoring position. I have minimal confidence in a wild card series after last year and considering that we’ll be forced to play either the corpse of Hoskins ($18 mil next season year btw :/) or Blind Bauers. Who says this won’t happen in the first game of a wild card series and then we need to win 2 straight
Base running failed us tonight
I am sure that this thread will be full of calm reasonable takes.
Mine is that we should have let Braun Strowman bat instead of Rhys.
They are going to limp into the playoffs and get bounced in the opening round.
Mark A. will say what a great season it was in his end-of-season letter knowing he didn’t have to spend much but lucked into having a team in contention all year so they were able to sell tickets and make him $.
I’ve seen this film before.
Can we stop wasting the three hole by having Bauers hit in it? Lots of weird lineups and they lead to like 0 for 15 with risp nights.
0 FOR FUCKING 15 WITH RISP 0 FOR FUCKING 15.
Pathetic losses no way around it. Cardinals literally handed us both these fucking games on silver platter and all we needed to do was hit two fly balls. Should still be .5 back of the 2 seed but instead we are 2.5 because we can’t get clutch balls in play. Terrible start to September and it doesn’t get any easier. Team needs to wake up they look dead
0-15 with runners in scoring position is all that’s needs to be said.
One of the only good parts of this series was Chourio getting the Bonds treatment two games in a row
Yeah, I’m pissed about this one.
We legitimately had HALF of the game with a guy on 2nd and no outs and they didn’t score ONE TIME. Then Murph’s absolutely brain-dead bullpen decisions again. I’m so fucking over it.
0-15 in scoring position. Even the White Sox couldn’t do that.
Insane how good this team is despite their one major outside signing being absolute dogshit all year.
Get this garbage out of the way before the playoffs..wow. We were on a hell of a run and it has come to an alarming halt. Just need to get hot again I guess.
It’s very disappointing Devin Williams gives you a prime opportunity to win these games and you shit the bed in the bottom of the frame
Idiotic management knowing they had a righty on the bench,
Idiotic hitting.
First series they’ve felt the Yelich impact. Need to move Adames behind Chourio.
Im sure I’ll be over it tomorrow, but this one stings. Very dumb move by Murph trying to play matchup with Hoby and having the Cards throw in a righty anyway. I hope he exorcises the Greg demon out of him. Just gotta get back on track.
Not a single clutch bone tonight. Murph needs to fix this confidence issue… Because we’re gonna be playing in that WC series.
Rhys still aiding Philly by not living up to the hype at all. Unreal how bad he is aside from a few moments this season.
My quick rapid fire thoughts:
– I’m not as resigned to our fate as the 3-seed as the doomers seem to be, yet. Having a Phillies series in hand is going to play a big role there.
– This ump was awful. One of those days I’ll be looking up the scorecard tomorrow.
– Pulling Payamps was malpractice.
I am so annoyed, I’ll never not want to beat the Cardinals. Let’s go make the tougher stuff look easy now…
The Brewers have only scored once in the last 6 extra innings and it was on the ball Siani dropped last night, which is also the only hit they have in that stretch (1-19). That’s inexcuseable.
Pulling Payamps for Hoby. Absolutely inexcuseable.
It’s hard to be too upset still being up 9 games but those last two games are about as irritating as it gets.
Putting Milner in was a decision, for sure. Murph knows that they can change the hitter when he puts a scrub like Milner in to get that lefty lefty matchup, so I don’t know. Seemed not great to me.
They walked a guy who can’t legally drink to put an elite runner on first as the game winning run just so they could face Rhys. The ultimate insult and boy did he prove them right.
Obviously the offense has sucked recently. Just have to hope that they show up in the playoffs.
More upset about the bullpen decisions these last 2 days. Throwing out guys in high leverage who have struggled mightily this year and have just recently returned is bad management. Frankly it strikes me as arrogant, that we feel like we can do whatever we want with this division lead. Meanwhile we’re losing our chance at avoiding the playoff round that has kicked our asses these past few years. Disappointing.
Terrible send of Haase. Shitty situational hitting and more dumb ass management of the bullpen by Murphy. Two winnable games in which our coaching was a detrimental factor. Should have known the fate when we put a .197 at the 3rd position in the batting order tonight
The option to go to Milner is tough to figure out. Payamps got two quick outs so we pull him for the guy that’s been bad all year.
Get rid of the ghost runner in extra innings! It has done nothing but created more issues for the game. It was implemented during COVID and the decision to keep it is horrendous. Home teams have a winning percentage UNDER .500 with the ghost runner rule in effect AND it gives the road team the opportunity to warm up their closer if they take the lead. Absolutely despicable.
Dodgers losing by 6 right now. Could have advanced on them for the 2 seed but nope.
will murphy finally acknowledge he made a dumb decision in bringing in Milner in the postgame presser? I’m betting not. He has not admitted a mistake yet, and in fact has doubled down on it being the right decision. This is maybe the most obvious bad decision though. I’m interested to hear how he addresses this.
Can’t be gagging series to the Cardinals if they’re going to be something other than first-round warmup fodder. Fucking Phillies and when the stops chubs aren’t dicking around right now.
Also Payamps taking the loss for this one is the icing on this shitty cake
The past two games are where you miss Yelich. Timely hitting and able to get on base.
I’m gonna say it. Rhys Hoskins is washed
He’s batting less than .1 on his last 71 at bats. His hitting average has dropped all the way down below .21 and is still in freefall. He’s having the worst statistical season of his career.
I mean, it’s a one year rental, but I’m starting to think that maybe we don’t renew the lease
Brewers have to play the D-Backs for 6 games (a team that they have struggled massively with), Phillies( who they got swept by this season already and besides the Rockies their schedule is not favorable. Brewers think they already clinched the division. I could see the Cardinals or Cubs making this division tight down the stretch. Hopefully I’m wrong.
One more thing, I guess this is why guys like me want the first round bye is because this team just cant seem to be trusted in a short 3 game series. I will take them any day of the week in a 5 game but not a 3 game as you never know when Pat is going to throw out Elvis are Hobby in a tied game late. I love Pat and what he brought to this team, its just like Greg with Winker last season, stop giving them chances,,, not at this point in the season.
Of course the Cubs are playing out of their minds right now. They have to play the Skankies, Dodgers, and the Phillies still so that should cool them off. Part of me wants them to beat both Phillies and the Dodgers as that is something that is needed to help the Brewers… I sugest we all hold our noses and cheer on the Cubs too in those series as I hate to say it, we will need their help.
So happy that we brought Milner and Peguero back for this series they could each blow a game for us. Very intelligent moves. Truly big brain stuff there. Neither of those 2 losers should ever have been anywhere remotely close to a big league roster again after they were both banished the first time.
What if, (Just a thought). Murph pitched whom he did tonight with an off day tomorrow to give the big guys 2 days rest for the final push for the bye?
