I was having an ok day but this made it way better. Time to change my flair to Matt Chapman like I said

Ok now let’s do more than just “hope the rest of the roster plays better” next year
I feel like 6/$151M is very close (or even beyond) the ceiling of what Chapman could have possibly gotten on the open market. But I don’t really care, as the Giants have a ton of payroll flexibility and I want Chapman to stick around.
Worst case, his bat and defense erode in a few years and this contract is pretty ugly for a couple seasons. But the Giants have the financial might to eat that cost, and they’ll get to hang onto a fun player who plays some of the best defense I’ve ever seen at the hot corner.
It’s nice to have another player who fans can buy a jersey of and not worry that he’ll be on another team in a year or two.

Watching Chapman play everyday it’s so clear that he is one of those special players with “intangibles” that goes beyond the box score. He plays 110% and plays smart. His head is always in the game. Good attitude, good emotional control. Who wouldn’t want him as a teammate?
