Cmon Rhys, unacceptable.

Unless Rhys goes on a tear or becomes a playoff hero he most likely opts to keep his $17 million coming to him next year. (Signed a 2 year/34 million contract with a player opt out after this season)

If he's not hitting he's pretty much worthless.

Arnold's worse transaction?

  1. You have to be a retardant if you don’t think Rhys only has plate appearances as a thing.
The youngest club in the league needs one guy that is a veteran.

  2. I miss Rowdy so much. I don’t regret getting my Tellez Brewers uniform knowing he wasn’t staying.

  3. Gary Sanchez for first base. Bill and Haase behind the dish/DH. Rhyse, have a break. There. Solved. 🤪

  4. I don’t know why it’s so funny to me that a Pirates fan went to the trouble to compare a couple guys with negative WAR. Rowdy is barely winning a rock fight so congrats I guess?

  5. In defense of Rhys, he’s also had several very clutch moments this year, winning close games off HRs. Plus he’s a veteran on a young team with good experience. Going into the year we knew he’d have awesome hot streaks and some very cold streaks. Phillies fans were saying the same thing. He hasn’t had a hot streak in a while and is due for one at the perfect time of the year. That average is by far his worst in his career but I have faith he can turn it on again.

  6. My fiancé is a Pirates fan so I’ve followed his season somewhat. Went from being booed at PNC in May to having the crowd chant his name when we went to a game last month. Glad he’s doing well (though still negative WAR so it’s relative).

Rhys has showed flashes like the hot streak a couple weeks back. Perhaps next season he’ll rediscover some consistency. Otherwise that’s an annoying $18M we’ll have to pay.

  7. What’s unacceptable is how Rowdy played for us in 2023. Rhys is making strides coming off major knee surgery and still has more juice in the HE column

  8. I’m good with him coming back. He’s coming off an injury year. Might be still working through it.
