The NHL Choke That Should Have Never Happened
#hockey #nhl #torontomapleleafs #montrealcanadiens
In 2021, the Toronto Maple Leafs & The Montreal Canadiens faced off in the NHL playoffs for the first time in over 40 years. Featuring superstars like Mitch Marner, Auston Matthews, Carey Price, & Cole Caufield, this series gave us a moment that we would never forget.

Need to mention Philippe Danault defensive work, doesn't excuse Marner and Mattews weak numbers, but he was on their back the whole time
The North Division… that one year that Bettman said ''oh good we have 7 teams in Canada"
The Leafs have been reliably choking for 25 years.
I think Carey Price leaving(?) hockey early is one of the biggest "what could have been" in my lifetime.
I don't get the idea of Toronto being notorious in chocking in game 7. They are just notorious in getting elimanated in first round. No matter what.Dam, I've heard a journalist of NHL sirus XM comparing Toronto to the free case of the Bingo game.
Thomas Kimberly Gonzalez Richard Young Paul
time for my daily dose of the leafs being pathetic ššš
Carey price is the greatest tri city American to play the game.
Just Effing losers every frikin year… LOSERS
Some of my best hockey memories ever. Almost made it all the way š¬
I feel so lucky to have grown up witnessing prime Price, people wonāt understand how unbeatable he was when he was on, devastating that he doesnāt have a cup to show for it
āLetās go back to the year 2020ā¦ā 0:57
Actually, no, Hockey Psychology, my friend, I think I speak for millions of people, when I say, āNo, no thanks; Iām good.ā
This cooooooooood beeeeeee verrrrry therapeutic for Make Believes
As a habs fan, that was incredible.
of course its mikehyev that misses an entire empty net, we witnessed too much of that as canucks fans this year
"Numbers are funny. They can measure you, time you, and analyze you all they want, but they all know what really matters is how you play the gameā¦.You ever hear the expression you canāt measure heart? Well the truth is they canāt measure any of it: heartā¦ wantā¦ needā¦. You canāt measure a dream."
I will be forever sad that Carey Price wasn't able to bring us a Stantley cup. He worked so hard for the Habs and fans from other teams didn't get the chance to see that every night but his play level during that playoff run was something we could see weekly for years. Sometimes he would steal a 2-1 win or was just unlucky enough and would lose 3-2 but Price CARRIED the Canadiens for so long.
18 playoff games with 0 goals is literally insane. Aināt winning a cup when thatās your second/ third best scorer
Thank you for explaining how Carey Price broke the Leafs mentally. It literally explains why they canāt win in the playoffs now. Playing your best and most dominant and still not being good enough to win is incredibly demoralizing, maybe permanently, and for an entire career.
The leafs r a bunch of kunts
Dude perry took out taveres that was nasty. I want to like perry but f him lol
After blowing a gimmee the previous year against Columbus, this was maybe worse.
I would love to see a video about the 2010 Flyers; got in to the playoffs in the last game of season in a shootout with the Rangers, took care of the Habs, went down 3 games to the Bruins and came back, including being down 3-1 in game 7, and finally lost to the Blackhawks. It was one of the most exciting playoffs ever and really felt like a Cinderella story at the time
Matthews gets tummyaches in playoffs
Its Toronto .. maybe should not happen but Will always happen
Toronto choking for 50 years,
Nikolaus Valley
Hey bro, I'm trying to forget
Imagine if they won the cup that would be the stuff of legends
Game 6 first goal shouldnāt have counted. Clearly goaltender interference
You should make system/tactical videos like thinking football if you donāt already
I still think the Loss to Columbus was worse. Joonas Korpisalo had a shut-out in game one and game five of the playin round.
Pierre Luc Dubois was the offensive star scoring three including an overtime winner in game three. Nick Foligno had his value increase because they looked good versus the Leafs in this play in round.
I do remember Craig Button around game six talking about how Auston Matthews was leading the entire NHL in the playoffs in expected goals.
Mathews & Marner disappearing in the playoffs. Name a more iconic duo.
The fact that your mentioned Habs won 15 of remaining 38 games, while not mentioning due to Covid rescheduling that they had the worst schedule in the entire NHL with games EVERY night or every other night for the last 50 games of the season is a huge miss as to their record.
Go Habs Go
Matthews quit and signed off in playoffs when they needed hm the most.
they almost had it but it killed their career. Playing with their injuries really did a number on them, I think we haven't given them the respect they deserve after what Carey did for the city
I "d feel sorry ,for the Maple Leaves, xcept… you know… Tranna ! in Onterrible !
NEVER ! gets old! Habs fan since the Rocket ! almost as good as winning la Coupe!
As a fan from the states, I will never know the pain this must of caused Leaf fans.
Didn't see price much when he was in his prime, but this playoff run showed me what the hype was all about
Oh but it did š
The covid cup was the worst thing that ever happened to me. Avs lost in ot of game 7 vs Dallas. My captain got his acl sliced in half and altered his career that heās still trying to recover to this day and I lost my job w the lightning bc I wasnāt āessentialā enough. Worst year of my life
What a great fucking run that was
The leafs lost to a zambo driver š
As a Habs fan, this was a moment I will treasure for the rest of my life.
Marner makes a uncharacteristic mistake! um for sum reason he makes those every game thou.
Wow those stats show that Boston just owns the leafs in series clinching games
