If Jimmy Butler hits free agency, which seems likely, he would have interest in the Brooklyn Nets: “Butler isn’t just open to Brooklyn, but fond of it, sources told The Post. Now, he’s not a Net and he might never get close to becoming one. But to dismiss the possibility out of hand is foolish.”

  1. Brooklyn: Most Nets teams delude themselves into thinking this free agent signing will make them a contender over night but this time?

    This time it might work…

  2. Go to the Raptors! They have a pretty decent core right now, the only thing they lack is a bench that can give them a few points.

  3. I could see Butler signing over seas to, in fact that would be something I’d expect him to do at some point.

  4. Lol all time hedge at the end of this ‘take’. Butler is not at my birthday party and may never be close to coming, but to dismiss the possibility out of hand would be foolish.

  5. Why the Nets? Dumbest shit I’ve heard all day. Golden State makes more sense, Cleveland makes sense as well but Brooklyn? Brooklyn is for
“ Stars “ who can’t handle the media market of the Knicks.

  6. Jimmy + Donovan Mitchell + Cooper Flagg?

Sounds like those Knicks dreams of getting KD, Kyrie and Zion

  7. The Nets will have a surplus of cap space for the next few years. Same scenario as a few years ago where every player/agent would use Brooklyn for leverage.

I don’t think there’s any scenario where the Nets would have legitimate interest in Butler.

  8. Now, I’m not a US president and might never get close to becoming one. But to dismiss the possibility out of hand is foolish.

  9. Jimmy belongs in Denver tbh. When thinking about what team his skills translate naturally to i can’t think of a better one.

  10. Is he interested? He’s not not interested, and he might not not not not be interested. You’d be a fool to think otherwise.

  11. Well I, for one, wouldn’t be shocked if he signed with the Knicks for the vet minimum. I’ve heard that not only is he open to the idea, but people heard him say that he would “play for the Knicks for free if the CBA would allow it”. To dismiss such a strong statement as pure fantasy is insulting

  12. That would be an exciting move for both Butler and the Nets. It will be interesting to see how things unfold.
