The Orioles (82-60) took the first game of the series on Friday night, moving to 9-2 against the Tampa Bay Rays (69-71) on the season. Was it pretty? No. Dean Kramer had a great start, pitching six no-hit innings, until the wheels started to come off in the 7th. Exiting the game with the bases loaded and no one out, Yennier Cano came on in relief and saved the day, striking the first two batters out and preserving the shutout with a popup on the infield to get out of the jam. Otherwise, the offense was quite poor, save for a solo homer from Gunnar Henderson, but even his night was marred by making two errors in the field on pretty routine plays. So, indeed, we won, but it wasn’t pretty…but hey, that’s okay. Just win, baby. This afternoon, Zach Eflin makes his second start since his injury spell, and boy was he DEALING his first start back. He will take on Tampa’s Ryan Pepiot. It is SEPTEMBER, folks! The playoff push is ON. So saddle up, grab some snacks, a drink or six, and enioy the ballgame. Thank yooooouuuuuu.
