Wait, Gonchar as best defenseman? I didn’t see that last post but uh, I disagree lmao. Goalie is MAF by default. Shouldn’t negate his spot on overrated either
It’s Barrasso. It isn’t even a debate.

Fleury will win, but really Barrasso deserves a nod here.
2 cups as the undisputed starter, two top-3 Vezina finishes. And he never really had the low lows that Fleury did in the postseason.

I’m glad to see Barrasso get his due so far in this thread. If he wasn’t such a colossal dickhead off the ice, his tenure here and overall accomplishments in his career would be a lot more well known.
Fleury, it is the only way to save him from the outrageous “overrated” status.
Because of that David Volek goal I’m going with MAF.
Technically Vokoun but he wasn’t here long enough. Tenured goalie is Barrasso without a doubt
Barrasso was consistently better than MAF. Fleury’s longevity and highs were impressive. But his lows were unbearable.

If we’re objective it’s Barrasso. One of the best ever goalies at passing the puck and probably would’ve made the hall years ago bc he’s such an asshole. The fact that this sub seems to be so offended by the “fleury overrated” really confirms how overrated he was.
Let me be clear. Flower was a very very good goalie. He’s not the best we’ve had, 29 shouldn’t get retired, and if it wasn’t for his post penguins career he isn’t getting in the hall of fame (he def is now).
It’s gotta be Fleury.
Barrasso was honestly such a dickhead that I think we should give it to MAF purely because he’s a penguins legendary goal tender, fan favorite, and a great human being.
