Jon Elmore for the 15th Spot?

It’s been almost one year since the Heat signed and waived the Sauce King Jon Elmore in the first move post Dame sweepstakes. I never understood the logic of signing him just to release him an hour later when they seemingly could’ve signed Diallo and Hampton without doing that. Unless it was a way to provide him a signing bonus for his work with the Skyforce, similar to what they’re currently doing with Dru Smith now.

Regardless, could Jon Elmore be the Heat’s version of Andre Ingraham? Perhaps even more so of a feel good story? He’s currently with the Stockton Kings but there’s still a 15th spot on the roster. Obviously the Heat would hate to be so close to the second apron but a move like this could have ramifications of galvanising the roster and further incorporating a 2014 Spurs style of selfless basketball with an emphasis on ball movement. Elmore offers the perfect plug and play option for positions 1-4, along with the potential of being a fan favourite similar to Eddie House. Instead of entering the post trade deadline buyout market that has now been restricted for teams over the apron, should the Heat award the final spot on the team to Jon Elmore and further bolster their offense or risk another season of under achieving?
