  1. How does this story continue to get worse? Heartbroken doesn’t cover how I feel for this family.

  2. Meredith Gaudreau is the literal definition of grace and dignity in the face of unimaginable pain and suffering. What an incredible woman.

  3. If an author wrote this string of tragedies in his book, he’d be called a hack for how unbelievable the situation is and continues to be.

I’ve felt so much sorrow for that family. All I can do now is hope for the health of the baby and that the family can find a fulfilling life once they’re ready to.

  4. What a literal nightmare…. truly one of the worst tragedies in sports history.

    I’m heartbroken.

  5. That brings the total to 4 innocent kids without dads. Not even considering the killers family. Fuck drunk drivers.

  6. I don’t understand how each new piece of information just adds a new layer of horrificness to this story

  7. I hope that each of the Gaudreau kids who lost their fathers can feel the appreciation, love, and collective hug from the hockey world and so many others. My heart goes out to each of them and those to come.

  8. Listened to some of the service and apparently Johnny knew he had a 3rd child on the way. Plain sucks.

  9. I was feeling better and trying to look forward to the season, but reading this is another emotional setback. Terrible news, but going to stay the course and keep moving forward. That’s all we can do. Keep praying for the Gaudreau family and keep Johnny’s memory alive while holding on to hope of better day’s ahead. It sucks right now, but it will get better for his family, the team, and us fans.

  10. “And when I die and when I’m gone, There’ll be one child born in this world to carry on, carry on…”

  11. Sad and emotional for certain, but I cannot agree that this story got “worse.” Johnny left a legacy and now that legacy just got a little bigger with another.

  12. I’m in Philly right now for the Pearl Jam concert tonight. They did a tribute to them their first show Saturday. This just breaks me even more being over here right now.

  13. I watched the service and it was heartbreaking. One of the worst things was when the family was leaving behind the caskets, their dad was practically being carried. The grief on his face is not something I will forget anytime soon. The only thing positive out of it, was that Meredith said they did not suffer.
