  1. It’s a small play, but loved seeing QJ actually show a flash of his college tape as a pro. This was a slick move to break a tackle against a Raiders defense that was tackling very well at the point of the catch.

According to NFL Pro, he had 28 yards after catch in this game. By comparison he had *148 yards after catch for his entire season* in 2023.

Roman drew up some nice plays to get him open and running after the catch.  He still didn’t look great playing on the outside, still needs to improve his separation against CBs from the line of scrimmage and at the catch point. Too easily bullied and pushed around by those outside CBs. But shows some promise as a weapon on interior routes.

  2. Gotta get him comfortable doing what he knows how to do instead of forcing him into the X role that he’s clearly not ready for.

There’s an obvious argument that QJ shouldn’t have been drafted when he was given the situation last year. But that’s besides the point now. We all should want to see him at his best.

  3. So weird that he actually showed production when he wasn’t being played completely out of position. That drop wasn’t great but that was also a very tough play, some signs of improved hands on that deep ball down the sideline CB just made a great play. Decent game overall hopefully more to come.

  4. This is the QJ I was waiting for. I been waiting for his spin after the catch since he got drafted. He did this all the time in college, I swear it’s the fastest spin after catch in the nfl

  5. Game 1 is a confidence builder. Combine that with Harbaugh instilling more confidence in him. He will produce for us.

  6. I’ve been banging this drum since early last season, QJ right now should be used as a YAC receiver and not a deep ball receiver, considering that’s what he was best at in college. Hopefully this coaching staff realize this and don’t try to force him to be a player that he isn’t, like the last coaching staff was doing.

  7. I really think he is going to ball out this year. It would be tremendous for our team’s production, and I would be super excited!

Side note – It will be delicious to see this sub do a complete U turn on QJ as folks were brutal on his 2023 production. Yeah it was shit, but in the same breath everyone says Moore/Staley were shit…..coaching DOES impact players.

  8. I feel like you can tell that this kid wants it so bad. That spin wasn’t necessary and only got him a yard or so, but he’s desperate to show off what he can do any time he gets the chance. I like that kind of hunger in a WR
