  1. Highlighted by the 1980 World Series title, Mike would go to hit 548 home runs with his final one in the major leagues on May 2, 1989. He would retire mot too long after than. What a hall of fame career he had !!

  2. Everyone thought he was a bust in 1973 due to the low batting average. Nowadays we would focus more on OBP and slugging. He was 92 OPS+ in 1973 which is not terrible for a rookie. He would never be that low again until his final season.

  3. I just want to say that happened with Michael Jack where he’s actually been a ton of fun in the booth lately.

  4. I don’t want to know his politics. I don’t want to know his thoughts on Pete Rose…

…I just want to wear my throwback Schmidt jersey in peace and enjoy the greatest third baseman of all time being a Philadelphia Phillie. 🙉🙉🙉

  5. Long time writer and statistician Bill James said if he had hit for a higher average, he would be the greatest player ever.

I wonder how much better / longer he could have played if not for the crappy Astroturf.
