Report: Canucks’ pursuit of Kevin Lankinen ‘has not stopped’

It seems pretty obvious what is happening here. The Canucks have 1.015M of cap space with a 23 man roster and Silovs in the minors.
Lankinen signing for more than ~1M means they’re forced to go into LTIR or run a smaller roster, which really limits their flexibility. So they’re waiting Lankinen out until he is willing to drop to 1M, or he balks and signs elsewhere. It’s a game of chicken
Any chance they already have a deal, but they won’t sign it until 1 day into the regular season for some kind of cap/IR shenanigans reason?
With luck a short-term Lankinen/Silovs season start, then Silovs to minors until trade deadline. Move Lanky for a good return and bring Silovs back for post-season again.
