Definitely IR him if he just had his worst day. A week later than you had to if you were just cautious from the start.

As great as CMC is, the 49ers went to the Super Bowl in 2019 and the NFCCG in 2021 without him, they don’t need him to win games, especially since they have Jordan Mason now, rest him up for the Super Bowl rematch week 7 vs KC, and have it be the Jordan Mason show from now until week 7.
Haven’t we already used 4 of our 8 designated to return spots? I hope this isn’t another 2020 season
This is horrible news, but with soft tissue we can’t rush it and the cover of Madden it was half expected.

If you look at burrows injury, he was bad for the first six ish weeks. These are tough injuries. Let him rest and get right.
He sat out all of training camp and now the pain os flaring up badly. We have to embrace ourselves, he may be out the entire season. 😤

achilles tendinitis does not get better. You have to sit for weeks/months for it to repair. If you come back early you’re right back to the beginning.

Curious if they can make IR retroactive to week 1. I’m not saying he should come back week 5, but it at least gives us that option.
This was what I feared. I was surprised at Shanahan pushing back and saying it’s day to day and the talk about playing if it was a playoff game. I think putting him on IR is the right move.
It’s sad that last year was the healthiest we have been in key positions and we couldn’t get it done…and even then Greenlaw tore his Achilles in his non-tendinitis leg during the Super Bowl in a non-play. That and a punt recovery that goes wrong really has you questioning our luck. Only way to combat that is to win by a lot (meaning scoring 30 pts). That seems like the only way we will be able to win it all. Shame we can’t score more than 19-20pts in the Super Bowl.
Sit until after the bye. Be smart, will need him more for the second half of the season & playoffs
don’t wanna be pessimistic but I’d like to know when this started to be a problem, as if this was at the end of last season, with all the summer break, I fail to see how he’ll be back this season at all.
