7-footer Christian Koloko is finalizing a return to the NBA and the Los Angeles Lakers are frontrunners to sign him among Raptors, Clippers and Spurs, sources tell @TheAthletic. Koloko is awaiting clearance to play from NBA’s fitness panel; however, he is eligible to sign now.

  1. He’d a be a solid back up C that we desperately need. I would be very happy if we can get him.

  2. I mean I’m into it but interested to see how we’d even clear a spot.

I see this more likely as a leverage play.

  3. Oh, we doing this again….until we make a move to free up a roster spot, we’re not “in the running” for anyone. This is the same thing they did the entire offseason. ‘Hur Dur, Lakers lose out on …… (who they made no effort to sign).’

  4. Oh hell yeah this would be a huge coup if he’s healthy again, I had him as a first round pick in his draft class. A ton of potential in him still.

  5. Do it Rob. Make some room and ahip someone out. We ain’t getting another chance for someone like that.

  6. Re read that sentence.

Raptors – his former team. Good chance he’ll return to play for them

Clippers – always piggyback everything were interested in and always seem to get the player

Spurs- on the upswing, going to lure a lot of players over the next few years

Lakers- have no space to add anyone

  7. I’m not gonna get my hopes up because we never seem to get anyone when rumors like this come out but he would legitimately be a good option for a backup big

  8. Why would he want to play less and compete for minutes with Poetl, Fernando, and Olynyk? He should come here or Toronto signs him and trades us one of their bigs. Shit is like Utah 22-23 over there, they got too many centers on a roster that clearly doesn’t have playoff aspirations

  9. So those who have seen this guy before, how good is he? Should we be concerned that he is “finalising a return”, meaning he has been away from the game, or atleast NBA level of game for some time? Most importantly, is he injury prone? I do not think most of us can take another injury prone “Christian”.

  10. I thought it was the Brazilian big to replace Woods “shooting”. That dude was COBOCLO not KOLOKO lmao. Im goin loco on these similar names

  11. I don’t even hold my breath anymore when we’re tied to someone signing with us, I’ll believe it when pens hitting paper

  12. Dam… the bar is so low after no free agent signings that the whole fan base hyped we signed a minimum center??

  13. Wikipedia says he was drafted by the Raptors in 2022 and last played for the Lakers from 2024 to present…

  14. If he impresses I wonder who gets cut? People will say Cam Reddish but I think you need his wing defense more than what Koloko could provide given Vando is out. I would think Maxwell Lewis but do you want to give up on a young wing so soon?

  15. If this does not work out the Lakers need to trade either Gabe or JHS for a center. One of the guards need to be traded either way to balance the team. I would trade Wood as well.

  16. Throwing the Laker name in there knowing damn well Lakers have too many obstacles to be able to get him.

  17. As a championship winning GM on NBA 2k, I can confirm this guy eventually develops into an elite interior defender

  18. I’ve been getting my hopes up for the last two years. I refuse to look at youtube videos of this man until he’s on our team 😤
