  1. David Savard is not going anywhere up to the trade deadline. The organization will sit with him and ask him where he wants to go (a winning team for the cup) and grant his wish.

  2. @ChuckyDoll79 Yes, this is such a logical opinion on your part. I fully agree with you. Savard will have to go. They need room for young D and Savy will be a UFA. Salary is also a consideration. We love Savy but…this a business and he is worth something. This management is classy and will help him to go to a contender of his choice if possible. For now the young D can simmer in the AHL. Competition will heat up near trade deadline and we will get the most for him there. Until then he can mentor the young guys.

  3. One very important selling point of this rebuild, is that this management team is not only looking at building a Stanley cup contender at la Marc Bergevin, but an in going play off contender year in and year out.

So letting any player go when a return is possible, is simply not in Hughes and Gordon DNA. That’s why they kept Allen around even if a 3 goalies system was bad…. That’s why they traded Honda Civic for a fourth instead of putting him on waivers.

  4. Pezzetta and Evans are role players and have « modest » but market value. Owen Beck and Oliver Kapanen are knocking on the door.
Florian Wifi is a nice surprise but will probably go to Laval with Luke Tuch.
PS: I wouldn't be surprised if Dvorak is placed on waivers for salary cap reasons before Price goes back on LTIR.

  5. Yes, yes… Sure it will happen. God knows you have a good track record on making trade assumptions, right Lego? Oops, not really, you're just a pathetic click baiter. If you weren't a moron, you'd know that such a trade would be done at the trade deadline unless Montreal has a CONVINCING playoffs participation. Teams get desperate that the deadline to make their teams better and are ready to trade more for less.

But yeah, pathetic clickbaiter and stuff.

  6. Dumbest thing would be to move out Savard if Hutson is to play in NHL this year

Savard is the perfect partner for Hutson

If and only if the Habs are out of the mix at trade deadline then I would move Savard as a rental

I would even bring him back on a very team friendly 1-2 year deal

Matheson is the one log jamming LD and needs to be moved if not this trade deadline than certainly next season

Ghule at RD and doing all the defending on that pairing can not be a long term solution

    Ghule
    Matheson
    Hutson
    Wifi
    Strubble
    Engstrom

    All Left shot D

Moving Matheson let’s Ghule move back to LD which opens up a RD spot

    Ghule – Reinbacher
    Ghule – Mailloux
    Ghule – Strubble

    Are all options

Hutson – Ghule could even be a viable option.

Matheson needs a defensive partner because he is offense first

Either Ghule – Savard playing shut down late game minutes

Hutson / Mailloux / Reinbacher hell even Wifi can all have looks on the PP

Canucks have been in search of a Chris Tanev since they kicked Chris Tanev to the curb

Much like Tanev, Savard is the best defensive defenseman on the team and the Dad in the locker room.

Trading him before finding Hutson a viable and reliable D partner would be a huge mistake

Hughes in my opinion still doesn’t have a defense first stay at home partner capable of 25 minutes a game

Hronek is great sure but he won’t go out of his way to take a hit for Hughes like Tanev would

If I’m the opposition my game plan would be much lije Nashville, dump it over Quinn’s head and send to guys to crush him.

A Tanev or Savard would likely already be back there for a Hughes or Hutson to absorb the hit and make a first pass out.

    Keep Savard trade Matheson

Buy low, sell high on Matheson

Of Matheson could land Habs a speedy, heavy, skilled PWF like Joshua of Holloway I would make that deal in a heart beat

Canucks would prefer a young top 4 D

But Matheson could fit well on second pair

St Louis could also use a puck moving LD since Krug is out and Leddy is not a a top pairing D at this stage.
