Huh.
I saw Big City shopping in the men’s clothing section at Target a few years ago. I’m a big guy but that’s a BIIIG guy.
Always loved his swing.
this came out of nowhere
He’s retiring
Pretty sure I saw Matt playing Mexican Baseball League stuff on TV when I was down there this summer for a long weekend. Kinda wondered how much longer he’d keep going and if he did that as some sort of rehab assignment. Can’t remember but I think he either was the winning run or drove it in.
End of another era.
Watch out Kershaw!
Am I dreaming, or did they call him “jumbo pepsi” in 2013 after the cards beat the cubs to clinch the Central? I only saw big city or similar after, but I stg they had jumbo Pepsi as a nickname that postseason.
Helluva career for Big Mayo
One final hurrah for Jumbo Pepsi
Who cares? We might as well sign Matt Carpenter too.
Wait….
He’s a semi regular at the restaurant I work at. Really nice guy that still dresses like it’s 2012.
good, mine as well.
make this shitty season a goodbye to old (some OLD) friends and a hello to youth.
cause it damn sure ain’t about good baseball
Still don’t understand the city part of his big city nickname. He’s not from a city. STL isn’t a particularly big city in MLB city terms.
Are we sure Mo isn’t considering signing him for a nostalgia run? That’s kinda up our alley 🤷♂️
I love this. I distinctly remember Matt Adams in the minor leagues—man, I had such high hopes for him as the successor to Albert. In a lot of ways he lived up to it by delivering some of the most memorable moments of the 2010’s for the Cardinals. To this day I still love Big City.
Fun fact that gets overlooked a lot, but we traded Matt Adams for a no-name and very young, Juan Yepez. Yepez didn’t work out here like we hoped, but that was still ended up being a damn good return for Adams at that point.
Thanks for being a part of the good times, Big City
