The Oklahoma City Thunder will give the Seattle Sonics their history back if the NBA grants Seattle an NBA team, per @espn
“Sources said if a team was to return to Seattle, the Thunder would cede the Seattle history back to the SuperSonics — just as the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets reclaimed the Charlotte-era history of the New Orleans Pelicans when Charlotte switched from being the Bobcats to the Hornets in 2014.”

Only because they said please
This has been known for 16 years, since the city of Seattle and Clay Bennett came to terms on a settlement for the team’s relocation.
“Sources” are just people familiar with the lawsuit settlement agreement, which is publicly available. Or maybe it’s ESPN using [its own article from 16 years ago](https://www.espn.com/nba/news/story?id=3545175).
Ravens fans: you’ve got a deal
this will have devastating effects on the 2k all time thunder team
Now do Minnesota
The thunder have only been saying this since 2009
Laker fans pretending to have 17 titles sweating hard
Thunder have never flown any Seattle banners in the okc arena
We never claimed their history to begin with
The Sonics are returning, aren’t they?
May they fare better than the other re-activated franchise of professional sports, the Cleveland Browns.
This shit is so dumb, just like the hornets and pelicans
Seattle don’t deserve the super sonics.
The whole bringing history from city to city is weird in the first place
I like this and I wish all moves were treated this way.
We realistically never took their history lol just the team😉
The notion that history is something you can trade or swap is nonsense.
As it should be, makes me sick every time the Titans wear the Houston Oilers throwbacks. Who cares they wore the jersey for a year in Tennesse, that history is all Houston
Utah’s next 😤
As it should be.
Give it back? They never got to take it in the first place, it was negotiated when Bennett stole, I mean moved, the team.
