[O’Connor] Briere confirms that the Johansen contract was terminated the day after he was placed on waivers. Now, the ball is in Johansen’s court as to whether they want to file a grievance.

Provided Johansen’s camp doesn’t file a grievance (they have 60 days I believe to do so from when the contract was terminated on 8/21) – we’ve got $4M in extra cap space!
If the cap space becomes available, you hold onto the cap space and wait to utilize it closer to trade deadline to bolster the team for a postseason run.
