Whats your favorite 1 single goal for Pittsburgh during the Sidney Crosby era?

Doesn't have to be a Crosby goal either. Mine is Game 7 in 2009 cs Detroit when Max Talbot came in on a 2 on 1 and ripped a writer over the glove of Chris Osgood to make it 2 nothing at the time.
That was the exact moment I knew Pittsburgh was going to win the Cup that day.

  1. Not my favorite goal, but the replay of this Talbot goal where you can see just how bad Osgood was off his angle may be my favorite clip ever.

  2. Crosby shootout goal in his rookie year against the Habs. Leg kick, water bottle flying. I was there, it was so cool.

Special mention to his goal against the Isles in his comeback game. There too, I’m pretty spoiled.

  3. Talbot’s snip top corner! OR Sid’s backhand goal first shift after coming back from injury!

  4. Sid’s one handed backhand against the Sabres.

Honourable mention to Guentzels first shift/first shot/first goal against the Rangers, with the family reaction.

  5. Someone already mentioned Geno’s spinning backhand against the Canes in 09, so I’ll go with Geno’s breakaway slapper to beat Biron in the 08 Finals. The hatred and disrespect he has for the Flyers is palpable and I’m completely here for it.

  6. Crosby’s overtime goal where he put it through Stromes legs against Edmonton. 21 year old McDavid watching it all happen from only a few feet away makes it a cool moment

  7. Bit of a weird choice, but I always remember a Crosby goal from 2006 against the Panthers where he split the d and scored falling down. It wasn’t a big deal at the time but it was a nice remember that the rookie year wasn’t a a one and done, and he was going to continue to dominate.

I’ll always think of that goal when I think of the Crosby era because it made me optimistic.

He was really charging defenders and the net in that early era.

  8. Sid to Geno to Guerin for the tying goal vs. Boston with 0.4s left. Spent forever unable to get out of our zone, but a broken stick led to a last-gasp offensive surge. Tim Thomas with an angry stick smash. And then Dupuis got an easy OT winner for his 100th career goal.

  9. The penguins have had lots of incredible goals during the crosby era, some amazing to watch, others clutch, etc. etc. But the single goal that made me lose my mind more than anything was Talbots first goal in game seven. My nerves were at an all time high, and that goal sent me through the roof.

  10. There are three.

    1) Malkin spin o rama against the Canes

    2) Kunitz game 7 OT vs Ottawa

    3) but by personal favorite is Crosby’s return from injury goal against the islanders.

  11. The comeback goal vs the Islanders. Watching him take out his mouthpiece and scream “FUCK YEAH!!” was very cathartic for all of us.

  12. I’ll throw in one not talked about often or in highlight reels like the others in this thread: Hornqvist banking it in off Rinne was chef kiss.

His former team and a “greasy goal” to win the cup. Unreal.

My honourable mention: When somebody says “Crosby was a diver early in his career”, I respond with “[Yeah you right](https://youtu.be/QS2B_7St3Mo?si=eeoGUWNm6IwrQiaE)”

  13. Bonino’s game 6 OT goal against the Capitals in 2016/17. I can recite Doc’s call “Spiked out of the air by Chorney…..”

  14. Because I was there…Sheary in game 1 of 2016 SCF. The setup from Sid was ridiculous. If you watch the video, you can hear the crowd gasp as he sends a no look backhanded pass 35 feet right on to Sheary’s tape in the slot.
