  1. Decided to make this post because it was confirmed that this was the reason for Abrams’ demotion.

  2. Wait chicagoan here, what casino did he even go to? Is the Temporary still downtown or did he seriously haul ass out to Gary Indiana?

  3. Serious question, why do so many athletes have gambling issues? I know it’s a pervasive problem (and now exacerbated due to legalized betting), but it just seems like you hear about so many athletes who do it. Is it the competitiveness? Just the fact they have a lot of money to burn? Seems like a horribly destructive way to lose everything even if you’re making ridiculous money.

  4. you know the Wrigley organist is preparing to play one of the versions of “Up All Night” the next time CJ plays at Wrigley

  5. Just out of curiosity, what’s the usual “get to the office” time for players for a day and night game?

  6. I respect it. You’re supposed to be a professional and you have a job to do. It looks back on the organization. Do that in the off-season and be a moron for all I care. These privileged idiots I swear. Arguably have the best job in the world

  7. A lot of thoughts on this I guess. Harder to care because the Nats suck (so do the Sox, before anybody thinks of me as a hypocrite), but this is also shit you can’t let slide really regardless of whether the game matters. That said? Wouldn’t a suspension make more sense? The minor league season is almost over, is this just a way of saying “you’re done for the year”? Because to me that potentially indicates as much about how horrid his second half has been. Well really if you look at it by month it’s two awesome months and then a bunch of garbage. Wonder if it just gave them an excuse.

  8. on the flip side, he was so dedicated that he still showed up to a game 5 hours after spending all night gambling. are we punishing players for being dedicated and showing up on time now?!

  9. When my brother played in the minors and independent leagues, guys would routinely stay up and drink and play PlayStation or Xbox in the clubhouse from the night before until the sun came up before a 1pm first pitch.

It’s sort of funny that this, coupled with the minor league catcher giving signs away so the season could end are seen as shocking when stuff like that has been an open secret amongst guys that have played at that level.
