  1. Big win. Lankinen is a proven 1B compared to the uncertainty of having a rookie in Silovs. This gives us way more certainty in net with Demko’s injury, especially if his minutes are sheltered afterwards. And it’s low enough a salary that we stay out of LTIR

Silovs gets starter minutes in Abby to keep developing and should still get a handful of NHL games to start the year plus the odd spot start during homestands

    Edit: he’s 1B-calibre, even if he wasn’t a true 1B in Nashville

  2. GOOD GOD LET ALLVIN COOK.
Rock Lank and Silvos until Demmer is back flip Lank for a small package win the cup 82-0 regular season 16-0 playoff run.

  3. Hell yeah. First Finnish goalie for the Canucks since who?

Cant remember who our last Fin Goalie was

  4. The Canucks had all the leverage here as it’s musical chairs each offseason where there’s no chair for many goalies. There’s only 64 NHL goalie spots — all of which have been taken.

Waiting for an injury to happen isn’t exactly a good strategy as there’s going to be a slew of goalies on waivers before the start of the season.

The Canucks were fine with waiting or not signing Lankinen at all since they could claim a goalie off waivers before the start of the regular season.

  5. It feels so good to be the team waiting and snagging guys on deals vs. jumping the gun, panicking, and over paying and over terming guys lol

  6. I’d assume this means Patera will be backup to Lankinen/3rd goalie once Demko is healthy & Silovs will spend the year in Abby which is definitely the best move. Better for him to get game action on a regular basis and more practice time.

  7. Rookie behaviour by Allvin, a real executive chef like Benning would’ve traded Silovs, signed Lankinen to a 3 x 3, and made Demko play opening night.

  8. top tier back up goalie with a .906 NHL (all situations) career average at almost league min. don’t let Chef Allvin out of the kitchen

  9. This is great value. Lankinen is a damn good goalie too.

Question for me is.. what gives when we’re healthy? Keep 3 goalies? Tolopilo and Patera are the guys in the A. Silovs is waiver exempt right? I think? But then who sits in the A.

Makes me think a trade is in the cards once healthy

  10. Damn, Chef Allvin out here getting deals. Bro must’ve clipped ALL the coupons and cashed in all his Save-On More points to get this below a milly.

I guess that means Silovs plays in Abby unless there’s an injury and he’ll get a better shot next year
