[Roumeliotis] Lukas Reichel said he went on vacation for a week after last season ended, was in the gym for two weeks, and then immediately got back on the ice: “I was skating pretty early because I felt not as good last year when I took like a month or two off from skating.”

  1. Very happy to hear this and hope we find out more about Reichel’s offseason work getting back to normal!

Last summer, Lukas focused almost entirely on being in the gym and bulking up to try to hold down a position at center in the NHL – an experiment that obviously failed spectacularly. Now that we know he went back to focusing on his skating (one of his best assets as a player), and it seems like we aren’t messing with putting him at C based on the lines at camp the past few days, I’m very hopeful he can have a strong rebound and get back to the path he was on leading up and through the 2023 season.

  2. Glad he is working on building confidence. He does have offensive talent and he just needs to be more confident + play to his strengths.

  3. He’s a big question mark for me. I hope he has what it takes, but I’m far from certain that he does.

  4. I was at training camp today and Reichel was super noticeable. He was all over the ice, hustling like crazy, and just hitting snipe after snipe wherever he wanted to put it. If that’s the Reichel we see this year, I’m here for it. Overall today, I was super impressed with the Reichel-Kurashev-Turbo line and the Foligno-Dickinson-Mikheyev line.
