One year later

I met Alison Lukan one year ago at KCI and asked “if I got a Lukan jersey, would she sign it?”

A lot has changed in a year. Not only did she remember me, she actively asked how life has been since we met. I stood up from my wheelchair and I told her everything that mattered.

This team (as well as this subreddit) has changed my life.

I joined the sled hockey team at the encouragement of this subreddit to stay active and social while dealing with my declining heath. In that time I’ve made life long friends, connections, and memories.

Today I was able to stand up on my own and introduce myself to my idol as Magnus. A trans man who is just now starting his journey of self discovery. Alisons support and love was exactly what I needed; she is genuinely the kindest person I’ve ever met.
