Report: Lakers not expected to have players minicamp before training camp

  1. Make sense since the team is basically the same as last season with minimal changes (only the rookies are new). Probably isn’t a need for the mini camp if they’ve already spent an entire season together, imo.

  2. This makes sense for a multitude of reasons. As stated in the article, AD and LBJ had a “extended season” with the Olympics.
The only other healthy(not injured) “leaders” on this team include AR and DLo. I don’t see either being the ones to coordinate a “training camp” especially without numbers 1 and 2 missing.
Ultimately, these player training camps haven’t led to much in-season results. Hope all our guys (and coaches) are ready when training camp officially starts.

  3. So many reports from the last 4 years of them not not having practice and camps, just get the extra reps

  4. Only downside is Christie not getting more reps plus Knecht and to a lesser extent, Bronny, not getting some earlier integration to the team. If Vando still isn’t healthy, our starting 5 from last season is already proven to be enough to win games in the regular season. Btw, do we have an update on JHS recovery timetable yet?

  5. A bunch of them seem to already be in the area anyway. Doesn’t mean much to me. Only people I need to know are grinding right now frankly is the staff. Most reporters around the team say they have been.

  6. The point of the minicamp is to get a head start on the familiarity and camaraderie that teammates build over the course of the season.

The roster is basically the same and a bunch of the guys are already working out together at the practice facility daily.

    Pretty much a non-story.
