  1. I have been saying something like this since day 1! Askarov could've stayed, proved he is a great backup, and proved he can be a great 1A/1B goaltender. Then after maybe an easy cup win as a backup/1B tends. He could go on to a different team, or even better beat Saros out as the better, younger, and eventually better paid goalie all before age 26!!!

  2. You can't tell until you see what comes out of the draft. I am leaning towards Nashville being the winner. Not sure why the Sharks needed to jump on an Nhl ready player when they need those high picks

  3. I love Askarov but he just had zero patience. Every Preds goalie spent more time in the AHL than he did, including the one who’s got a statue outside the building. Like dude you might have the potential to be the best goalie the Preds have ever seen but right now you’re not Rinne, you’re not Saros, and I think it was dumb of him to walk away from a franchise that has literally cranked out back to back to back vezina caliber goalies

  4. This goes two ways:
    1. Askarov develops into the superstar he's hyped up as, the Sharks go on some historic playoff runs, and that's a win for the Sharks.
    2. The SJ development system hinders Askarov's growth and he never reaches his peak with the team, resulting in San Jose getting fleeced in the long term.
