  1. (Full quote)Dear John,

With all due respect, which is more than you likely deserve, save it. Be an adult. Get in front of a camera and say it with your chest. Releasing a letter, clearly written by someone else, and including a bunch of names you DEFINITELY do not know, is just disrespectful to those that love the team.

“We tried.” lol. The fact that you STILL think that anyone cares about that at this point shows, once again, your lack of understanding of WHY people love the game. You love owning stuff, just not your actions. Either stand up with pride or keep hiding. Pick one, we’re tired.

  2. Trevor May seems like a good dude and I wish he had stayed with the Mets.

Glad we and other recently former, players are not pulling punches on this situation

  3. John Fisher makes even Art Modell look good.

The biggest nepo baby. He makes Jerry Reinsdorf and Bud Selig look like absolute geniuses.

Imagine looking around the Bay Area and being unable to find say I don’t know… 100 to 500 people with deeper pockets and bigger smarts than this asshole. FJF forever.

  4. I didn’t realize May finished up in Oakland, too. Makes this so much more impactful. Good on him for speaking up. Now my second favorite former As reliever.

  5. They tried. But the person and people entirely responsible for what happened and in fact set all the actions in motion *for* it to happen were just helpless to prevent it…

    What a tragedy.

  6. It’s funny how many billionaires become cowards. It’s absolutely disgusting that this was an acceptable way to communicate to fans.

This little man, decided to address the fans in this manner and it’s a slap in the face. If Manfred had half a testicle in his body, he would not let this happen to the city, the game and professional sports in general.

Baseball should be ashamed of this. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t be the case but there will be plenty that remember the travesty of this entire ordeal.

Fuck you John Fisher and Fuck you Rob Manfred. You are two Earthly cowards that will find each other in Hell, in this life or the next.

  7. Fisher is a true asshole. All this did was pour salt on the wound of Oakland fans. The “I tried” narrative is cliche. Fisher did not try hard enough. If he wanted to keep the team in Oakland, he, the city, and MLB would have figured it out. He saw what he assumes are dollar signs in Vegas. Time will tell if that is true or not.

  8. Dear John,

I feel like I can call you John because you and me are so alike. I’d like to meet you one day, it would be great to disappoint fans together. I know I can’t be as good a douche as you but I think you’d be impressed with my douchiness. I love your lack of hair, you probably don’t know how to play baseball. Did you have a good relationship with your father? Me neither. These are all things we can talk about and more.

I don’t know if you have been getting my letters because I know you would never write back a letter to a fan yourself. I hope your PR team writes back this time, and we can become good friends. I am sure our relationship would be a real [mock swing] *home run*!

  9. Watching May close out the reverse boycott game is a core memory. He may not played for the As that much, but you can see he loves Oakland and feels for the fans.

  10. Fisher will step in front of a camper when they open the new ballpark and have “rebranded” but won’t when it comes to basically killing of a 1/3 of the team’s legacy and history with Oakland. What a bitch

  12. Ever since Burn After Reading, I can’t see/hear “with all due respect” without following it with “what…the fuck…are you talking about? And why’s OLSON here?”

  13. I want to dig up the sound clip I grabbed of Trevor yelling “ohhhhh sick!!!” from when I was playing Fortnite with him in response to this.

I saved it because it was in response to me sniping some kid in the dome.

  14. Trevor in the wild! He is the best pitching analyst I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to. And I used to roster him in a Holds league so there’s that

  15. I grew up with Trev, and called him one of my closest friends for years.

He is everything you are all saying and more. I’ve never met a harder worker with more integrity. He’s a cerebral guy who cares deeply about the common person, and extremely deeply about the game of baseball. Him and I did his first AMA together on Reddit about 12ish years ago, he loves this community and always lets common sense prevail.

Happy to see he’s still the same guy.

  16. My grandfather grew up a huge Philadelphia A’s fan and was crushed when they left for Kansas City. The fans in Oakland deserve better – this is a storied franchise with a very rich history but it’s now heading for it’s 4th home. There will now be a generation of heartbroken fans one day telling their grandchildren about watching and cheering for Reggie Jackson, Vida Blue, Mark McGwire & Rickey Henderson much like my grandfather told me of watching Jimmie Foxx, Lefty Grove, Al Simmons & Mickey Cochrane.

  17. I’ve always liked Trevor May and his baseball opinions and insights, but this one takes the cake. That first sentence says it all. John Fisher never GENUINELY tried to stay in Oakland. Oakland fans deserve better. I don’t think baseball will do well at all in Vegas. Not to mention they still have a long way to go before that can even happen. What a shit show
