  1. I’ve been active on this sub and holy hell it was really bad last night. We all need to realize it was one game and we weren’t eliminated. We all need the Aaron Rodger’s R E L A X vibe.

  2. So weird these past few years being a Dodgers fan from San Diego. I’ve lived in SD my whole life but my dad grew up in Long Beach and is a diehard Dodgers fan, that rubbed off on me as a kid so here I am.

My entire life the Padres were chumps. No one in the city cared much about the team since they were mostly bad every year and going to a Padres game was more of a fun thing to do rather than people attending because they’re actual fans of the team in a major way.

These days, San Diego is absolutely electrified by this team and has been for going on three years now. It’s crazy how many people you see on a given day with Padres gear on and how often I now get chirped for wearing my Dodgers hat. And this may be controversial to say, but these Padres fans deserve it. They’ve had nothing but losing for decades and this organization has shown to be very solid for a decent stretch of time now. I know a lot of Dodgers fans cope by saying “bandwagon” to every Padres fan, but that’s how sports fandom works in every city who has a historically bad sports franchise. No one is going to give a shit about the team if they suck forever, but when they compete and change the culture, people will rally behind them. That’s what’s happened in San Diego.

Anyways, this is just a long winded way of me saying that the days of the Padres being some cute little brother are finished. This team has shown time and time again that they’re not fucking scared of the Dodgers, even in the slightest. I think it’s important for the Dodgers to finally show a little bit of grit and win these next two. Our reputation for being a low spirit ball club that chokes in the post season is warranted, and losing a series like this to the Padres at the end of the regular season without putting up a fight is a terrible look.

Coming out flat tonight and tomorrow can’t happen. This team needs to remind the baseball world — but more importantly, remind THEMSELVES — that they aren’t to be taken lightly. Everybody has to get their heads out of the sand. This ain’t the mid-2000’s Padres anymore. And anyone who thinks “it doesn’t matter” or “we’ve owned them forever” just doesn’t know how to handle the fact that San Diego has kind of had our number for a few years now.

  3. I know we get caught up with the “what if’s” and “why not’s” but at the end of the day it’s just baseball. Shit happens I guess.
