1. Yankees were clearly waiting for the anniversary to clinch the division over the Orioles. Perhaps a walkoff from the Yankee captain is in the cards again tonight

5. If you wrote a movie about a player and included all the things Jeter did, people would laugh at it for being unrealistic. Walk off in final Yankee Stadium AB (the first game of his career where the Yankees were out of playoff contention)…….HR for his 3000th hit (despite not being known as a power hitter)….his ridiculous consistency through a year’s worth of postseason games.

13. I vividly remember him coming up to bat and thinking “there is no way that he doesn’t get a hit right here”

14. Technically speaking, the only truly meaningless game he ever played at Yankee stadium. Still made it memorable. I’ll never forget the sound of the woman’s voice behind me when he said on the field “I was just trying to do my job” and she screamed “YOU DID YOUR JOB” while hysterically crying.
