I’ve defended him pretty consistently since he was drafted.
The only recent first round pick I am getting worried about is Pelletier. He is hitting an age where you would expect him to have proven he is an everyday NHL player. He should be looking like a superstar against the weaker competition in the preseason.
My guess is Pelletier eventually makes it to the NHL but isn’t much more than a third line player. Not a bad outcome for a late first round pick but also not what you’re hoping for.

I never judge prospects until they make the team.
