[Frank] Brandon Graham said Wednesday he could envision a scenario where he puts off his planned retirement and plays a 16th season for the Eagles. “Honestly, I’m going to stay ready just for one more year,” he said. “Just in case if a situation popped up where it’s like, ‘OK, they need me.’”

  1. > Graham said all summer this would be his final season, but he said Wednesday at his locker that he could envision a scenario where he puts off his planned retirement and plays a 16th season for the Eagles.

    > “Honestly, I’m going to stay ready just for one more year,” he said. “Just in case if a situation popped up where it’s like, ‘OK, they need me.’ But right now I’m just trying to get through this year and enjoy it as much as I can. And hopefully make a bunch of plays to help the team and help (my teammates) get to their next level.

    > “Either way, I’m going to be a part of whatever they’re doing next year. As a player, who knows? But I might stay ready another year depending on how everything goes this year.

    > “I just want to be able to help in whatever role because I know where they’re going right now and I want to be a part of that.”

  2. He’s still a solid cheap DE3/4 and obviously a great leader. Love to have him if he’s happy to come back.

  3. If he played every game this season and next, he’d be at 229 career games which would crush the Eagles’ second most games played (193 by Kelce) by 35

  4. lol I’m taking this as…..I thought I was cooked turns out I’m essential. Maybe I better keep it rolling. Love this man!

  5. Dude is a true Eagles Legend and personifies what it means to be a Philadelphia Eagle. From his play in big moments, to his personality, and demeanor off the field. Brandon Graham is a class act, and one of the greatest eagles to ever lace up.

  6. I’d imagine it’s hard to walk away from something that you’ve done your entire life, have a great working relationship with the FO, teammates, and coaches, he’s been on a mostly successful team, he’s still having an important impact… all that’s gotta be really tough to go “I quit see ya!”

You hear guys talk about how hard it is to leave your brothers and move on, especially as a vet and leader, it took Kelce and Cox a couple years of mulling it over before actually walking away. Not to mention getting a few extra million in the process lol. He probably wants to walk away with a positive experience unlike last season’s end, I get that.

  7. So he’ll be back next year then. 1.) As Chris Long pointed out, he’s the only moderating veteran influence on the defense. 2.) We’re not going to be positioned to draft an instant replacement next year, someone who starts week 1-4.

  8. Man, I remember feeling salty for years that we didn’t take Earl Thomas. And here we are, BG makes the play to seal the SB win, and still playing great at 36 y/o, and meanwhile Earl Thomas has been out of the league for like five years.

  9. The year is 2040. Brandon graham completing his 30th season has just stripped sacked cyber Tom Brady to win the SB. He also just passed Reggie white as the franchies leader in sacks.

  10. BG55, we’ll always need you. There will never be a situation where this team is as good and can talk as good shit without you.

  11. But I thought all the players hate Nick and want him gone, why would he stay?….

    -this sub probably

  12. Forget about the Trea Turner applause documentary. We need one about Brandon Graham starting from the Earl Thomas disappointment through his early seasons of injury and minimal playing time up to his Super Bowl hero and team leader status!

  13. The only reason I think BG may change his mind is because of how utterly in shambles that pass rushing unit is and I think BG feels a sense of duty to not leave the Eagles in a worse off state. Kinda the same idea of how Jason Kelce had peace of mind things were going to be okay with Cam Jurgens taking over. Missing on Derek Barnett, Bryce Huff, and Nolan Smith has really put us in a hole we can barely climb out of.

  14. One of the nicest Eagles I’ve ever met. Seriously. He’s an all-time favorite of mine for who he is on and off the field.

  15. I really hope when BG decides to hang them up he stays around and gets involved in the team like Barwin did. His vibe is unmatched.
