  1. >These groups, these players and these seasons can disappear quickly, which is why an avalanche of pressure is about to come crashing down on this team in ‘25, the final year of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette’s deals.

    >Gausman won’t be here forever, either. If he comes back stronger in 2025 — which feels more like a “when” than an “if” — the Blue Jays need to line up everything else around Gausman to give him and this veteran staff another shot at October. He, and they, have earned it.

  2. He really came on strong in the second half of the season after a shaky start – although that shaky start was likely due to not being fully healthy coming into the season.

We can only hope our Wizard of Gaus comes back better than ever next season!

  3. Since the beginning of July he’s pitched to a 2.90 ERA/3.49 FIP.

However I’m still a bit concerned about him for next season. He stopped giving up nearly as much home runs during this stretch, with a 0.6 HR/9 and a 5% HR/FB ratio. I think it’s possible he got a little lucky in not giving up so much homers.

His K% was 19.6% and his BB rate was 8.6%, and he had a .244 BABIP. It just doesn’t seem like pitching this way is sustainable for long term success.

I have reason to believe that Gausman can figure it out, maybe the shortened spring due to injury plus his age never let him get to his normal velocity and stuff. The splitter is a feel pitch after all.

I’m hoping that after a full offseason Gausman can get some of his stuff back, his location is still solidly above average and he’s probably an above average starter even with diminishing stuff.

  4. Kevin has proven to be a very good Free Agent acquisition. He has been reliable, sturdy and performed brilliantly. Glad to see the 2nd half turnaround. Hope to see an even better 2025 and 2026.
