  1. Man I love baseball. I love the Cubs. I love Kyle. This was just such a good day. I couldn’t imagine Kyle ending his Cubs tenure (if he does) any better than this. I was starting to think he was going to Maddux it today.

  2. This was an excellent game. Kyle Hendricks was his vintage self and got the well-deserved ovation. I liked the idea of having Tommy Hottovy take him out. The Cubs came through offensively in the 8th. Tyson Miller and Porter Hodge pitched really well. And Dansby Swanson made some really impressive defensive plays, especially for the last out of the game. I wish the first base umpire called him out originally. That would have made it better. But it was a fantastic ending. I wish Kyle Hendricks all the best.

  3. God I love Kyle Hendricks! Cubs legend, World Series Champ, class act. One of my favorite Cubs without a doubt.

  4. Great sendoff for the Professor. We’ll never forget you.

And I liked how after they saw the replay the infielders started congratulating each other even before the play was overturned.

  5. The one thing that really bums me out, is that when a lot of loved players by the cubs move on, they seem to move on from Chicago too. I really, really hope that Kyle will call Chicago home, like how kerry does, once he moves on from the game. That attending games at wrigley will be his summer hobby. But I know he’s gonna go out and live his life in Newport Beach and just come back for ceremonies or special occasions. It’s just a bummer 😔

  6. Other than a newspaper, the only piece of memorabilia I have from the 2016 season is a Game 7 ball signed by Kyle. It is my most treasured possession.

Glad he got to have one more game like today.

  7. What a beautiful game. This is why I watch baseball, and never abandon my team and its players. What a special way to end his time with the Cubs. I selfishly hope he retires, but either way, I wish Kyle the best wherever he goes or what he decides to do. One of the best to ever wear the royal blue pinstripes.

Hendricks mentioned all the support he has received from fans through even the bad times, and it just reinforces the real difference between real life fans and the online people commenting vile shit all the time.

  8. So happy the professor can go out on a high note. Any ideas what his post pros plans are? He always been an insightful interview and I’d imagine it could translate well to the booth or coaching. Would love him to stay in the organization somehow. But maybe he just wants to sit on a fishing boat or something

  9. The world needs more positivity. Ernie Banks was and always will be my favorite Cub.

But Kyle, as JD pointed out, never ever looked mad about any botched defensive play behind him but always applauded the good ones. Great player, great teammate, big reason the Cubs got to the WS and won it, so he will forever be one of my favorite Cubs.

  10. If I’m reading between the lines in the postgame presser it sounds like the Cubs don’t want Hendricks back

  11. I have been harsh when it comes to hendricks this year. In spite of all that, I am thankful for what he did for the cubs. For him to go 7.1 innings, like he did during game 6 of the NLCS. You can’t write a better script than that. I am forever grateful for what he did for Chicago.

  12. Getting to see one last vintage Kyle performance in person was unbelievably special. Thank you for everything Professor 🥹

  13. Man, devil magic is alive and well: the Cubs have a run differential *122* runs better than the Cardinals do, and yet are only one game ahead.

The Cubs are 6 wins worse than their Pythag (89-72), and the Cards are 8 wins ahead of where runs scored and allowed expect them to be. Had the Cubs outplayed the Pythag record by the same amount as the Cards did, they’d have *97* wins right now.
