  1. What an amazing season he’s had! (Someone needs to tell him his mustache makes him look 40. Edit: he looks like Peter in Deadpool 2).

  2. I feel like I’m witnessing a reincarnation of Randy Johnson, except Skenes is starting out already hot. If he stays healthy, there is no question, he is going to be the best pitcher in the league for a very long time.

  3. Arguably the best rookie season for a pitcher ever right?

Top 5 in strikeouts since 1901 and only Kerry Wood had a higher K/9 among those 5, and the lowest ERA since 1950. 211 ERA+, 11-3 on a Pirates team that ended up about 10 games under .500. ASG starter. 2 games where he left in the 6th or 7th with a no hitter… quite literally no pitcher should ever win ROY again if Skenes doesn’t this year (I say with exaggeration ‘cause I know there’s bound to be years where rookie position players are bums lol)

  4. A smidge over 5 2/3 average innings with a 5 to 1 strikeout to walk ratio. Thats ace level shit in his rookie season.

  5. Honest question? Isn’t this good enough for the cy young? Instead of ROY? That seems more appropriate

  6. Losing Scherzer, Kershaw and JV hurts a little less with a dude like Skenes already here.

He’s a Cy Young contender NEXT. YEAR.

  7. I still can’t believe they didn’t shut him down. I’m glad they didn’t, but I for sure thought he was getting shut down in August

  8. If Bob Nutting refuses to substantially increase payroll spending while they have a generational pitching talent on their team (after literal decades of nothing) the league should seriously revisit how it lets teams operates. No team in the NBA or NFL would get a player of this caliber and not do everything in their power to get good players around him.

  9. Feels like this guy is the next Degrom. Especially with him not always getting run support lol.

For baseball’s sake I hope he doesn’t throw his arm out like Jake did.

  10. Both Merrill and Skenes made compelling cases for ROY. At the end of the day, each team has their future secured and here we are fighting over a silly award.

Can we just enjoy it? Like damn. Obviously, each team wants to root for their player, it’s not rocket science

  11. Incredible, I’ve always loved pitching and love watching his highlights. I hope he wins many cy young’s in his career.

  12. Best rookie pitcher season in decades IMO. Yeah he didnt have a big innings total, but thats good for a young player throwing so hard.

If he comes back next season and continues to pitch like this over a whole year he’s going to be the best pitcher in baseball.

  13. loving it. as a lsu fan i enjoyed the heck out of him in the CWS and then to see him beasting in the pros. just makes me happy. i have made sure to watch all his games this year best i can. been worth it.

  14. Skenes: 0-2 vs Cardinals, 11-1 vs rest of MLB

Clearly we should be put directly into the World Series
