  1. That sucks…did anyone tell him or the manager? Another AB in a meaningless game wouldn’t have done anything.

  2. Charlie is a staple of Rockies baseball for years

They will pay him that bonus whether he was 1 AB short or 50

  3. As Oakland fans are finding out, MLB is a business first and foremost. If the owner can save half a million, I’d bet he would do it.

  4. Official scorer needs to go back to an at bat where he reached on an error and change it to a hit

  5. It’s funny, the post literally under this on my feed has the Rockies giving him the tundra that is usually in the stadium. Maybe there was an agreement of some sorts. Either way I don’t think the Rockies are going to screw Blackmon over at all

  6. Already collected his 13M base + 500k each at 3 different PA levels.

I’m sure he was in on this one.

  7. In case you want an example of what a classy franchise does under these circumstances: [The New York Yankees gave Sabathia a $500,000 performance bonus, even though the 38-year-old left-hander was ejected from his final regular-season start six outs shy of the 155 innings specified in his contract for the payment…Sabathia was ejected for throwing at the other team in retribution.](https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/25560755/cc-sabathia-gets-500000-bonus-ejection)

  8. Just horrible. Free agents and the Scott Borases of the world should take notice when considering contract negotiations.

  9. That’s way worse than how the Pirates handled Tellez even, Blackmon was the soul of that franchise for ages

  10. I hope it comes out that Blackmon just wanted to go out with a hit or that he’s still gonna get that bonus anyway.

If not that’s a garbage gesture to a career player who’s consistently been one of the best things about your team.

  11. That’s trash. What a way to send a player off that has been there from start to finish with your franchise. Garbage of the Rockies staff and front office to do this.

  12. I wouldn’t be surprised if they pay it to him anyway. I’ve seen other teams do it, and all things considered, I’d be very surprised if the Rockies didn’t do him right on it.

  13. The other day Rowdy Tellez got DFA’d by the Pirates. He only needed 4 PA’s for his $200k bonus. Scummy move.

  14. Thats some fucking bullshit… I had zero respect for the rockies before now i just hate them, PRICKS.

    C-U-N-T-S

  15. They subbed him for a pinch runner after getting a hit so he could take a curtain call. It doesn’t feel like it was done maliciously

  16. Perfect reason why they should never be paid by individual “performance” metrics as is floated as an idea from time to time.
