Would love to see them sign Soto and add an ace/closer. But assuming they don’t do that, it makes sense to trade away Nico and Happ to land a quality catcher or add significant arms while making room for Shaw/Alcantara/Cassie. Vlad Jr. could be a target after next year.

That’s a shame
hoyer shamed us all and wiped out our history of respect and honor. He is the worst executive in sports and doesn't even understand basic humainty. Our boys would have won the division this year had their heart and soul not been robbed before the season started. The void left by our true leader being embarrassed and run out caused every returning player to take a step back and no real talent with options will want to sign for a backstabbing organization led by hoyer. Belli didn't even want to re-sign but the situation made him think he and the boys might be able to get past the shame caused directly by hoyer. David Ross led our team into position to win ahead of schedule and has a way of making every player a little better. This team was even missing basic fundamentals at times this year, while last years team spent time among the best teams in baseball, and was always fun and exciting to watch. Rossy creates one of the best clubhouse vibes in the sport and hoyer and the organization have no comprehension of the importance that has on the team's performance. Our real Manager is still available today. An apology would go a long way for a man who loves our team, loves our history and tradition, and loves us as fans. If he ends up with a competitor, we will suffer the consequences for years to come. Cubs, please do the right thing. hoyer must be removed before he has a chance to walk into our sacred building tomorrow and our leader must be contracted to return our team to form and beyond. I'll never forget the day I saw that the Cubs had hired council. I thought Andy Green had done a fine job and could not think of why he would be replaced with council. Then I saw a little more news and my jaw dropped. It was a historically poor move in baseball history and one we won't live down for some time, unless corrected. Personally, after 35 years as a fan, I took this year off. I never lived in Chicago and in the past I would take several trips up for a series or two every year, and bring friends and relatives with me. I would buy merchandise and spent many thousands of dollars on the team each season. I can't spend another cent on this team until our cloud of shame is lifted. This year we improved with a real #1 starter and a very promising 1st baseman and they didn't manage to win a single game more. Really just a real shame. I want desperately to rejoin my team. jed hoyer MUST be removed. At least try to make up for the humiliation you have caused so many.
Same team will take the field next season, believe it. With attendance at nearly 3 mil, why would they change anything.

Well you have to look at the landscape we are in now a days. Most of the teams are in contention or on the upswing due to the expanded playoffs and will never trade away good players. We also have richer owners to battle like Cohen and Rubenstein. You all know Tom ain't out spending them so, we can only trade for game changers now and that costs a lot of player capital. We should try for Vladdy if he's willing to sign an extension with us but, there's more of a chance that happens then Tom out spending Cohen and Rubenstein. I'd also love for them to take a chance at Sandy Alcantara since we need a clear cut ace and also trade for Jesús Tinoco to bringing in more guys with stuff to the bullpen. Longshot I know but, you all should know by now that Tom and Jed won't do much in free agency.
What’s most frustrating is that they could have and really should have been better, but were clearly missing 2-3 guys, including a legit closer and a clutch power bat. Hopefully we’ve seen the last of Wisdom, Smyly, Mastro and Madrigal too. Should have also been better defensively – Morel experiment was a disaster. Lots to improve and clean up, including third base sends and other small things that add up.
