  1. Guys those 2 months man. May & June were FN BRUTAL. 17 games below .500. I don’t care how good you are in the 2nd half. You’re not coming out of that. Two years in a row, Cubs killed themselves. September last year. Early this year.

  2. What a class guy ,one of the best we had ,and he still can pitch I hope they sign him again he is an icon of the Cubs ,he looks like he still wants to pitch so he is not looking for a desk job .I just hope he doesn't sign with one of our enemies that would be terrible as always you guys have a great podcast I never miss it ,you all have a great night and be safe.

  3. The Professor would be a huge improvement in place of the shameful destroyer of teams, jed hoyer. With the teams real leader David Ross in charge we would be division champs getting ready to go on a run.

  4. God, I hope so.

Look; Kyle gave the team seven seasons from 2014 through 2020 that ranged from "good" to "ace-level". Not only did he pitch well in World Series Game 7, he was even better in NLCS Game 6. He outdueled Max Scherzer in Game 1 of the 2017 NLDS. He was terrific in the shortened 2020 season.

But that was all FOUR-PLUS years ago. From 2021-2024, Hendricks gave this team 1.3 BWAR/4.5 fWAR for the low, low price of $58.6 million. The former number is horrific and the latter is still well below-average. Kyle Hendricks is a big reason the 2024 Cubs didn't make the playoffs.

If someone else is willing to pay for his last one or two bad seasons of his career, then let them. But Kyle Hendricks needs to not be on this team in 2025.

  5. Class is the word – dismissed and maintained throughout his tenure, right to the end. Good on him and wish him all the best. Sorry about missing out on the over, Sam, but only figures that they would disappoint in that respect as well. Hopefully someone knows how to improve this team so we don’t end up with the exact same record (or worse) for a third straight year. I do think we’re close but probably 2-3 key guys away.

  6. This was an emotional show. It's crystal clear that this isn't just a job for you guys, but that you really love the Cubs. I also watch the Cubs Baseball Channel, and they're good. But you guys are the very best by far! Love your show and will continue year-round to keep up with the Cubs by watching you. God bless you both and give you years & years of podcasting success. Go Cubs! (And I still love Sam's frequent references to history because I'm a retired History professor.)

  7. I had them down for sub 85 wins again this year. I expected the offense to produce and the pitching to be mediocre. Turns out the offense was awful for a big part of the season and the starting pitching was great throughout. Though the bullpen was very bad for the first 3 months.

  8. I didn't expect it, but I cried when the pulled Hendricks out. I hope the front office sees enough value in his season, and more importantly with his remaining and retiring a Cub. He can be a mentor for the young guys, a real life link to the ultimate goal, not to mention still a quality pitcher. He's not old and washed up yet, and if he's not producing exactly as they hoped, that's on their own coaching staff. First order of business: sign Kyle to an APPROPRIATE contract, and find a good role for him.

  9. Hey fellas, good morning!!! Let me start off by saying what a class act Mr. Hendricks is and how fun it was listening to y'all despite this season!!! Can't wait for next year!!! Michael Richard from the "BESTBANK" of New Orleans….WHO DAT!!!!!

  10. As much as I like Hendricks, I also recognize that he's not the pitcher that the team needs to win the division. If Bellinger opts out, then the off-season will be interesting. If he doesn't, then the Cubs will have to hope to improve the bullpen. Take away 14 blown saves by the pen and 4 losses by Hendricks and the team makes the playoffs.

  11. You guys are definitely the best Cubs podcast out there. I can't wait to listen to you guys every morning or when ever a new episode drops. Keep up the excellent work guys!
