From a goalies point of view, that release made no sense. His body langue, puck placement on the blade, the release, none if it was proper hockey technique. Goalie reached down for it, puck went up. At those speeds it’s all about reading the shot and this was written in hieroglyphics.

I can’t wait until he gets tired of the cold and moves someplace warmer. Like, maybe LA.
I love a good ol slap shot on a breakaway/shootout. Sucked it came against my team, but hey. Was still pretty cool. Lol.

Draisaitl does this in-season the last 2 or 3 shootouts I’ve seen him take. They don’t go in. He’s usually like 5th or 6th for that reason. This one went in, proving that blind squirrels find nuts.
