  5. I’m weirdly okay about yesterday. We knew going in that Skubal would be tough and he was. But Skubal can’t pitch again today, so LETS GO!!!!!

  6. Hunter Brown starting a must-win playoff game and fully deserving the chance to do so. Whatever happens, he’s been incredible for the majority of this season.

  7. Have to remind myself the season is a success based on how it started. Just hate that we’re backed up against the wall at home in the playoffs again.

  10. Postseason reminded me to unsub from r/baseball once again. The amount of Astros derangement syndrome is too much, they are SIMPING for AJ Hinch over there.

  11. No matter if this is the last game of our season, I’m so fucking proud of this team and they showed exactly why the Astros are in H-Town.

    10 games back, everybody thought we weren’t anything just for us to be the last one standing in our division. Win or lose im proud of this team, but let’s get this W

  16. Whelp for hopefully not the only time this year it’s either “next year is our year” or “see you tomorrow”. I’ve watched literally every game this year so idk what I’m going to do if the season ends today.

  18. I feel like I have to say this, because there were a _lot_ of doomers yesterday.

    If we do lose this series, _it’s okay_. The sky isn’t falling, and the dynasty isn’t going to be over.

    Rookie managers _rarely_ go all the way in their first year. Like, ever. Last one that did it was Thompson in ’22, and he was technically an interim. Anybody remember 2015? Because that was Hinch’s first year as a manager.

    It’s okay. Really, it’s fine.

  24. We win today. Our players step up & play sterling defense & our offense comes alive; Hunter has a great day, and we start looking forward to tomorrow’s game.

  25. Not sure what everyone expected yesterday. That was the game Detroit HAD to have with Skubal on the mound. We preformed as bad at the plate as we possibly could and still got within 1 swing of a 3-3 game in the 9th. Pitching favors us the rest of the way.

  26. In May there weren’t many people who thought we’d be here in October.

    This was a tough fuckin season. The injuries alone should’ve held us out, but here the fuck we are! I know exactly zero people on this squad, but I’m still proud of em. Grit, determination… heartbreak, acceptance… you name it. It took everything to get this far this year.

    I hope we win. I hope we remind the league who they’re fuckin with, but win or lose… I’m still proud of the Houston Astros. All of em.

  27. Six innings from Hunter Brown; Abreu, Pressly, and Hader to close out a W. That’s been the blueprint since Spring Training (albeit with a different pitcher in mind) and it is time to execute the plan.
