  1. In case you can’t read the article, Diamond is dropping every MLB team broadcasting contract they have except for the Braves next year, and said the teams will have to re-negotiate if they want to stay with Bally.

In a vacuum, good riddance to this dogshit company, but in practice that tv deal is really lucrative for the Rays, right? This could have a pretty rough impact on the payroll next year regardless of whether or not they can get a new deal soon, I’d think.

  2. Please just make it free to watch as fans. Multiple teams across different professional sport leagues are beginning to copy this model.

I’m sure Rays viewership was down when you had to pay $20 a month to watch on Bally Sports shitty app.

  3. Wasn’t the MLB supposed to step in this season because this was an issue going forward after a deal to buy Bally fell through?

  4. maybe amazon or Tim Apple will be cool and pay to expand their mlb relationships and help us small market guys out. I think Bally/Diamond/whatever was paying around $80 mil a year for the rays tv rights, so that would be about $1 bil for all the teams being dropped. Coach cushion money for the big tech guys

  5. Cool, my annual streaming sub just renewed last week for the Bolts

    $185 well spent!

    Fuck Bally

  6. I hope this means blackouts will be a thing of the past but that won’t happen in all reality unfortunately

  7. With the way blackout works currently a local deal would hurt the rays. Fans in North Florida would be missing out. I hope a new deal will allow MLB to sell the digital rights like the do out of market games but with no blackouts.
