If I’m not mistaken that was Brad Turner too lol he’s a nice guy. But fuck it’s cool to see a coach with some wit, not afraid to give a little sass to the media. A little PJ-esque even!
Good. Get it out to the media early that he’s not going to be baited into this vague bullshit. JJ needs to just keep it straight, if the media has a dumb question get to the point and ask him
That is such a great answer.
I feel like Brad didn’t do anything lol
It’s easy to talk like this when you haven’t coached a single game.
This is the first time experience on First Take has ever been useful
People have HTSD and I get it. He was bad. But JJ is a good fit for Bron and won’t be afraid to speak his mind and honestly that’s what is needed most. I’m incredibly optimistic.
I love how he challenges vacuous, formulaic questions like this, but in a professional way. I’ve heard him do it a couple times before, too. Reporters will have to actually ask him good, informed questions. Maybe other coaches and players will follow suit and we can start to see some decent sports journalism in the NBA. But that’s probably a pipe dream.
I would have said “is his 6’8” 250 lb ass going to learn how to rebound?”
I feel like it’d be real easy for either of them to be like, will he get better? and that’s that
Good shit
The next step already happened, Ham fucking off 😤
Please God – let this man be intelligent enough to understand when to call timeouts, create quality rotations, understand the passion Lakers fans have to win every game and not suffer from acute down syndrome during the 3rdQs like the last HC. Amen.
Man.. jj has been saying all the right shit. I’m hoping he’s as professional and as knowledgeable as he presents himself
I AM ENJOYING THE REDICK ERA LAKERS
espn 9/11 jj not feeding them content 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
If I was the reporter I woulda followed up with “is he gonna grab more than 4 boards a game and make his lay ups?”
as a fanbase, we should follow JJ’s example and NOT BE BAITED into overreacting to narratives perpetuated by the media. this season is gonna be great if only we could ignore the media
i’m going to wait to get hyped up until something actually happens besides press conferences
I really hope JJ never gets too tired to go back n forth with media. (I watch Westbrook media interviews and it seems he’s given up finally lol). I love how Jjtotally dismisses that narrative all together. Nobody said nothing about a next step we just want him playing hard on both ends.
This makes me happy.
Bro needs to be more mobile on defense and rebounding. He can shoot and create a bit off the dribble but not good enough to midigate his lack of d. He 6”8 230 he should be dropping 16 and 8 in his sleep
Tbh I feel like he’s all talk till the season starts. I mean bro has never had coaching experience before
I think asshole coaches do it best… Mike Tomlin takes NO SHIT from media lol
You have to stand firm or they’ll eat you up like Saleh
Hah! People will always fail to live up to undefined expectations. The goalpost always moves.
I would think next step for Rui would be improvement on defense/rebound and more consistency on offense.
Holy cow that is an absolutely beautiful answer by him. “You tell me”
Not only to the reports but to the Lakers fans who criticize Rui.
