The highest highs and the lowest lows of the postseason in one game. Wild.
Every year I always say how much I like the Brewers. They just can not get over the hump. Adames is likely to walk. I’d love to see him stay. But they can easily move Ortiz to SS. Chourio proved that he is an absolute stud.
As for the Mets. Just when you think they are out. They pull you back on. Alonso just secured his legacy. He’s likely coming back on a 9 figure deal. That Phillies series is tough with Wheeler and Nola sitting there. But this grimace voodoo magic is still hot.
What’s the point of winning a division if you’re still subjected to the damn wildcard series? Terrible playoff format.
Doesn’t really help take the sting out of last night but the Brewers had a great year in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year. Having Churio locked up for a while is huge and they’re only going to get better.
I really hope they break through eventually the way we did last year to win our first.
I still can’t believe that happened. The place was absolutely rocking after the B2B homers and everything seemed to be going right for the Brewers. Lindor’s AB was insanely clutch setting them up. I don’t think they get anything going if he gets out there
Alonso with a legacy moment.
Also what an amazing season for my teams. Both left for dead at one point and both are going to their divisional series.
As a Phillies fan I don’t feel good heading into this series. Mets are hot and we’ve played like shit since the ASB.
Brewers and Orioles made one of the bigger trades of the off-season and both are going home.
Corbin Burnes had the best pitching performance for the Orioles since Mussina in almost 3 decades and they lose. Now Burnes is a FA and probably won’t be brought back.
Ortiz had a very disappointing series. Hopefully he’ll continue to progress for the Brewers as will DL Hall.
I don’t care if you walk the bases loaded. I don’t think you should pitch to Alonso there.
And yes, I’m sure there’s some analytics or something that point to the contrary but sometimes you just feel it in your gut.
You had to feel like this moment was coming for Alonso. All his career he been getting dunked on for hitting homers up or down by 4 runs. He’s was struggling coming into this game but he needed this moment. Lindor and Nimmo set him up perfectly and he delivered. He earned that one of the most pivotal home runs ever.
The worst part of the Brewers loss was hearing Uecker’s voice on that call. Man absolutely lives and dies with them.
As someone who was at the game, it’s gonna take a while to get over this loss. The thing that hurts the most was how much this team defied expectations, overcame injuries, and had young guns who stepped up. I didn’t really think they were gonna win it all but it was a fun season that I wish could have gone on just a little bit longer.
Alonso has a career 1.011 OPS in the 9th inning – his highest OPS for any inning. Hitters typically hit their worst in the 9th inning.
Whatever happens from here for the Mets is a win. Cohen said we won’t be competitive til 2025 and the moves we made this offseason and trade deadline showed that’s the course. Us getting this far will make us a target spot for a lot of the elite players entering the market. Things are finally looking good Metsbros!

I know everyone is still rightfully talking about the Alonso homer, but that double play by Lindor was incredible. I thought they had no chance of getting Turang at first on that ball. Lindor doesn’t have the greatest arm to begin with and the back issues have clearly been effecting it, but he threw a fucking seed over there. And the awareness to realize in the moment that taking it yourself was the only play because Acuna wouldn’t be able to throw Turang out with his momentum going away from the bag was brilliant.
Lindor has the highest “baseball IQ” of any player I’ve ever been able to watch consistently, it’s tough to really notice that if you don’t watch him everyday, he just always seems to make the correct play no matter what the situation. It was on full display there.
What an incredible moment. I would have loved to hear Gary Cohen call that play.
Man, as someone who didn’t closely followed the Mets even though I am a Yankees fan, and *live* in the city, I can’t tell you how hyped I am for this team.
The Mets made me listen to the radio for the first time in… when did Spotify/streaming gain traction? 2012-2013? I was driving and I just knew I had to tune in to the feed for the last few plays of the game.
If someone saw furiously screaming “Let’s fucking go!” And slapping his steering wheel at around 9:45pm yesterday…. You know why lol
I’m also happy that I listened to Rose’s call on the play live. That’s something I’ll never forget.
Beyond the 9th inning, we can’t forget the Brewers were not able to drive in a single run that reached base. Those two solo homers we’re the only runs they scored. They had so many opportunities all night. Yes, Quintana was dealing, but if they can’t string together hits then that’s it.
Biggest irony of all is Met fans were disgusted in the 8th inning saying how it’s gonna be just like the 2016 WC game and I’d reply with the road team won that game. That game was won by a 3 run HR in the 9th inning by the road team, well this game was won by a 3 run HR by the road team in the 9th inning so Met fans were right all along: it was just like the WC game in 2016 lol
Contreras coming in with the Narcos playing against Diaz was bad luck. First they mocked the OMG, then they mocked Narcos.
What did you think was gonna happen?
