  1. With today’s win, the Guardians move from a 58% chance of winning the series to 72%. They are now 10 wins away from a World Series title.

  2. Positives from today’s Cleveland POSTSEASON baseball:

Nothing like a rip roaring start for the offense today with FIVE runs in the first! Kwan👑 led off with a double that missed being a leadoff home run by mear inches, and was immediately followed by a Fry🍟 walk. José🐐 blasted an error down the third base line to score Kwan and move himself up to second, and Josh💨 got Fry home with an RBI single. Finally, the trade deadline acquisition Lane🚂 BLASTED a three run homer for a 5-0 lead. Gimmy also had a hustle single but couldn’t make it home.

The boys kept threatening as well, with a Kwan walk and a Fry single+SB in the second and a Gimmy HBP+SB in the third. Meanwhile, Tanner Bibee was taking his first postseason start in stride, allowing some baserunners but stranding all of them, causing 5 LOB and making the Tigers go 0-5 with RISP. Overall, IssaBibe went 4.2IP, 4H, 0R, 1BB, and 6K across 76 pitches (49 strikes) and made sure to hype up the crowd on his way out.

*By gahd, that’s the best bullpen in baseball’s music.* K’d Smith led the crew out today, with a DOMINANT 1.1IP, striking out all four batters he faced on a total of 18 pitches. The offense finally broke through again in the sixth (thanks for pulling Reese Olson) with a pair of walks to Jhonk🎄 and Kwan, followed by a Fry double to bring em both home and make it 7-0.

Back to work for resident bullpen lefty Tim Herrin, who came out *dealing* with an 11 pitch inning that included two strikeouts. He also reappeared with a quick walk in the 8th before handing the reins over Gaddis☠️ who induced a quick pop up and *beautiful* double play thanks to our (hopefully) pair of gold gloves in our middle infield. A late Rocchio double does no more damage, but it was a nice hit.

Emmanuel “la kabra” Clase🐉 entered in the ninth inning. You can guess how it went. Guardians take a 1-0 series lead. Game two at 4 pm on Monday.

  3. I was in section 178 on the aisle right next to the third base line as I watched Lane Thomas’s three run majestic blast soar through the cloudless blue sky into the bleachers. The crowd went absolutely bonkers. One of the best Cleveland sports moments of my life. Let’s go Guards!!

  4. Amazing effort by the guys, everyone did their job. Also loved seeing Cookie in the dugout glad he’s here with the team

  5. Fuck yeah. Bullpen did it’s shit. Bibee started a bit rough but came through. Cade Smith is gonna get a fat ass contract one day

Going to game 2. Let’s hope it ends in a win

  6. Nobody should ever question this FO again. Thomas Cobb and Boyd were the best Trade Deadline acquisitions this year by far.

  7. This is such a satisfying win. Everything I saw online was nothing but cocky Tigers fans saying how they were going to sweep the series. As long as we can keep them down on Monday and get some runs off their bullpen I like our chances for this series.

  8. Death, taxes, and the Guardians doing well offensively when the sub hates the lineup pre-game.

  9. It will be tough, but I should be able to carry this high into tomorrow after the Browns lose.

  10. Loved seeing Cookie in the dugout at the end of the game!

Keep it up guys! We believe in you!

  11. Perfect game. Destroyed the opener, Bibee and bullpen shutout. My Fry Guy and Lane Train. Hell yeah

  12. I said it in the Game Thread and I’ll say it here too: K’d Smith deserves ROTY.

Leads all relievers in fWAR. 100+ Ks in 74 IP. Sub-2 ERA. Sub-1 WHIP.

Clase is our big-name weapon but goddamn when Cade comes out he deals like no one else.

  13. Gotta work Skubal hard no quick innings and games 2 is ours. Detroits bullpen is not what it was during the regular season.

  14. That’s a critical win, we face skubal next so just incase we drop that game we won’t be down 2 games and it slows the tiger momentum down. Also the bullpen is phenomenal
