[Buha] JJ Redick said the Lakers executed their one-through-four switching “less than 10 percent of the time” despite drilling down on it in practices and their pregame meeting. “Like, am I not making this clear? Is it something I’m doing?”

  1. Reddick more passionate about Game 1 of preseason than Darvin was about a conference finals matchup

  2. This Redick guy is probably pushing the players to their limits aswell. Unlike the other one whose warming his hands in his pockets….

  3. It’s cause of rui. No offense dude is a lazy fucking defender. Doesn’t switch, jogs back on defense and refuses to rebound. He had turnovers like crazy yesterday and couldn’t make a bucket. A complete repeat from last season.

He has a nice contract which is pretty easily tradable. He is the guy we need to move.

We need vando back ASAP. I see real promise in knecht who can take hachimura’s minutes.

Trade rui for a decent center

  4. The constant Darvin Ham hate is getting side-eye worthy. Y’all didn’t hate Vogel this much when he got fired. I’m starting to think it’s racial. Darvin Ham was not the best coach for this team but he did lead the team to 2 playoff appearances.

  5. Move Rui DLO and Vando asap!

I think Gabe is someone who deserves a real chance to prove himself again he looked good yesterday and even looked good last preseason but then he got some knee prob that hurt him all season and Ion think he was ever the same but now his knee looks healed.

  6. One concerning thing is if they truly were not executing their 1-4 defensive game plan 90% of the time, how was this not corrected in game? It could be on the players laziness and it is game 1 of pre season, but I hope Reddick and the staff are analyzing this in real time and not afterwards

  7. No one was vocal on defense. Usually that’s LeBron. He’s always calling out when to switch. Sometimes it’s AD. But without them, there’s no defensive leadership.

  8. This was just a preseason game, and what was said isn’t that big of a deal, but criticizing the team in front of the press when things get serious isn’t a good approach. Saying what should be addressed in the locker room in front of the press create resentment towards the coach. Even after a preseason game, Rui has become a target here. What’s said about Rui is true, but the coach’s decision to discuss it publicly complicates player management in the long run.

  9. Welcome to coaching – at any level. We drilled it…it was a point of emphasis…we didn’t do it – pretty much every coaches life!

  10. This will be an interesting dynamic.

Ham was undoubtedly one of the big reasons that Lakers were a shitshow last year, but the coach can only do so much. The players gotta play and I appreciate Redick holding his team accountable. I don’t think Redick has done/said anything wrong to this point and if the players don’t run what he wants, then it is ultimately on them.

  11. With how media savvy he is and how he’s obsessed with basketball I’m really hoping and praying JJ is our new Pat Riley.
