How good was Tim Thomas in a Bucks uniform?

Not many Milwaukee Bucks fans know who Tim Thomas is or how good was he as a player being a part of the early 2000s trio of Ray Allen, Glenn Robinson and Sam Cassell. So, can anybody describe to those newer or casual Bucks fans how good he was when he played for this team?

  1. When he was hitting shots it made the Bucks a tough out alongside the Big 3. But he also thought he was better than he was and would keep the ball out of said Big 3’s hands too often. If he played today he’d be kind of a 3-D guy and would/should be sitting and waiting for open looks from the corners.

  2. He was an incredible talent. I think his best games with the Big 3 and when the team was at its best was when TT would work in the post. The simple fact that was with three ball-dominant players, TT’s versatility was not needed. They needed a guy who could do the dirty/hustle time plays (work in the post, hard cuts to the rim, and defend). He could do all those things but from what I recall, he worked his way into Karl’s doghouse by hanging out on the perimeter too often.

It’s a shame. That was a very talented team, but I also wonder how badly TT’s development was hurt that he spent so much time asked to be a 4th fiddle when some young players have the freedom to grow into stars.
