A Weekend Full of Moves For the Colorado Avalanche. Do They Make Sense?

The Colorado Avalanche made some moves to their roster over the weekend, and they all were a little surprising, even if they all were in effect depth moves.

On Friday, the Avalanche released P.E. Bellemare from his PTO. Bellemare was expected the be slotted into the 4th line center. Now that he is not where do the Avs go for that position?

On Saturday, the Avalanche picked up defensemen John Ludvig off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins. Ludvig has the size the Avalanche lack, but the defense is already pretty crowded so where does he fit?

We might have got some sort of answer on Sunday when the Avalanche traded Erik Brannstrom to the Vancouver Canucks for a 4th round pick and defensemen Tucker Poolman. While Poolman will head to LTIR and not play this season, the face the move even happened brings up a lot of questions.

We try to make sense of it all on today’s episode! Tune in, subscribe and enjoy!

  1. I'll say this team will be interesting to watch and see what they piece together until November when missing pieces start coming back like nichuskin, lehky, and possibly landeskog.
Obviously nichuskin and lehkonin will probably play there previous line positions but im interested in where landeskog lands. Personally id put him on the 4th line for his own safety to start with but thats imo.

  2. Mostly cap moves, everyone acting surprised about how serious the cap situation is, along with Mikko not getting signed before the season starts. This season is going to shape the future of this team quite significantly I believe

  3. I think Ludvig was brought in to add toughness. Not just Manson. Ludvig had 77 hits in 33 games for the Pens, to go along with 6 fights. He's only 24 so he's our youngest dman. Hopefully he can grow into a solid, hard hitting, defensively responsibly DFD. That suits are 6D slot well.
