  1. This post made me think that there is only one player I would really care if that got traded or were released. Logan Webb and even then if it was a knock out offer I’d at least listen. Buster has a lot of work to do.

  2. I like Adames as a player and wanted us to trade for him a couple seasons ago when he was rumored to be on the market.

That said, I hate paying for guys in FA right after they had a career year. Unless they are borderline HoF players, those contracts often backfire and can set back a whole competitive window (not that we’re necessarily in one now).

Would be fine with a shorter deal, but don’t want us taking the approach of buying high unless it’s for an absolutely proven difference maker.

  3. What are the rules on heavily front loading contracts?

Just spend like a mad man on Soto, Adames, Profar?

Move fences in for them too.

  4. I love Adames. He’s a very good player and a great clubhouse presence. But he’s getting a little old for the kind of long-term contract he’s gonna be looking for.

  5. Sign him and then sign Alonso. Of course I would prefer the big ticket guys like Harper and Ohtani, but at least Adames and Alonso would be cheaper.

Lee, Adames, Ramos, Alonso, Chapman, Fitz doesn’t look all that bad. Sure it ain’t as good as San Diego or LA but I do think that lineup could give you a great shot for 90 wins and one of wild card spots.

  6. It makes perfect sense. That is a huge position of need and it’s a thin market. You basically have Adames and an injured Kim, and I bet that injury makes Kim a full-time second baseman when and if he’s healthy.

  7. Adames has a good bat but defensively I don’t see how he’s that much better than Luciano. I’d rather they go after Kim; with injury concerns and all.
