  1. 5 goals 5 ways has only happened one time in history, likely will never happen again. A true unicorn.

  2. Mario 5 goals 8 points in game 5 against Philadelphia in the Patrick Division Finals. This was the game where he scored the iconic goal where he stole the puck from Hextall behind the net and put it into the empty net in one quick motion.

Fun fact: There was some concern going into the game Lemieux wouldn’t even be able to play after sustaining whiplash from a collision with a teammate in game 4.

  3. It’s Mario 5 goals 5 ways. We all know it. The block was basically made for Mario.

So I’m going to break the rules and say Sid against Ovi in the 2009 playoffs, game 2, Sid and Ovi have hat tricks. Sidney was unstoppable that night, but the key to this was he was the only one. Pens lose 4-3, but for some reason I think Sid’s work ethic through the game helped the team for the entire series. I remember watching that series thinking Sid was a man possessed, putting 13 points up behind Ovis 14 which broke a modern day playoff record. Probably one of the most fun series I watched as a fan, this or conference finals Ottawa.

It’s also just fun to bring Sidney into the conversation after so many amazing individual games and moments.
