[Rany Jazayerli] Even for Patrick Mahomes, this is ridiculous: He has 23 rushing attempts for 83 yards this season, a mediocre 3.61 YPA. But 10 of his 23 attempts – *43%* – are kneeldowns. Take those out, and Mahomes has 13 rushes for 103 yards, a 7.92 YPA. Kneeldowns should not be rushes.

  1. The fact that he already has 10 kneeldowns with 5 games played says more than the YPA.

  2. College football records kneeldowns as a team rush instead of assigning the yards to a specific player, and I’ve always thought that makes way more sense

  3. They need to stop counting kneel downs as individual rush attempts. It’s just stupid. Stupid for gambling/fantasy and just stupid for the way we track the game. It’s literally not a rush attempt

  4. Agreed! A couple of years ago in fantasy football, I had the win sealed in a super close game. Mahomes got me two extra points from his 40 yards rushing that day—which put me over the top by a fraction of a point. But then he had two kneeldowns at the end, and the negative yards took a full point off because he went down to 38 yards. Lost me the game because of non-plays.

  5. Also a couple of those kneel downs he was moving backward to use a little extra time but if you care that much about stats the backup could do the kneeling but nobody care that much about those things
