A Lost Season for Sean Murphy Raises Many Questions Going Forward

2. Murphy is a failure. He can't handle games at a high-level situation.

3. I'm guessing one of Murphy or Baldwin gets traded. Your guess is as good as mine which one.

4. Certainly, someone is working with him on his swing, but a year and a half of poor batting performance does not translate into him making changes. So, what's really going on? Is he seeking help beyond Braves coaches? Who knows.

9. To me Murphy struggled just squaring the ball. the higher exit velocity a batter can get after squaring it up he just struggle with fast balls. But i do feel Murphy will have a great 2025. I more worried about Ozzie he always hurt.

14. Jake, I think some people unsubscribe just because they can’t handle the mental duress that being an Atlanta Braves fan can cause. I don’t believe it has anything to do with what you say. I had to check out from watching Braves baseball for about six years because of my mental health lol!

15. Jake, isn't it Kevin Seitzer's job to recognize the differences between early 2023 Murphy at the plate and 2024 Murphy at the plate and help him get back? Also, I think the Braves need to choose a starting catcher and let them start 4 out of 5 games. Momentum means a lot in baseball but when a guy has to ride the pine a day after having a good day at the plate, that momentum can be lost. One last point to make… Murphy might have physically recovered from the oblique injury, but did he mentally recover?

18. Remember when all your internal alarms got raised when AA traded Contreras? Those were correct. AA got too cute. Horrible trade and sign. Now upgrading shortstop is almost impossible.

21. It looks to me like Murphy is always trying to do too much at the plate. His swing is all or nothing. I get it that home runs are sweet. When facing a good pitcher, just get the ball in play. He is dam near an instant out facing good pitching and it’s not even close. He can’t even work the count. How many 7-10 pitch at bats has he had all year? To me the pitch sequence is slider, high fastball, slider and sit down son.

23. Jake, your caught stealing percentages are incorrect. Murphy had 62 stolen bases with 15 caught for a 19.4% and d'Arnaud had 55 stolen bases with 13 caught for a 19.1% rate.

28. I was never a fan of the Murphy trade, to his credit baseball is a game of timing and rhythm if you don't get regular playing time, it is hard to get into it.

30. Not going to unscribed I like your opinions even though some I don't agree with. The only real problem I have with Murphy is not so much his offense but his defense which was supposed to be elite I don't see that guys run all over him. I did hear the humidity in the south might be affecting him. I don't know how true that is I think he could get used to it. Maybe give him one more season then look elsewhere
