After frustrating season, Moreno expects Angels to be competitive in ’25

  1. Arte did another interview, this time with MLB.com. It’s mostly the same lies he told in the OC Register interview, but this one isn’t paywalled.

  2. He’s doing these interviews to hype up fans to buy merch and season tickets knowing full well we’ll be sitting in 5th place next season fighting over a draft pick with the White Sox, Marlins, and Rockies.

  3. “Having Mike Trout under contract for $37.1 million per season through 2030 and Anthony Rendon signed through ‘26 at $38.5 million, made it unfeasible to re-sign Shohei Ohtani, Moreno said. He added they had plenty of trade offers for Ohtani before and during the ’23 season, but the plan was to compete for a postseason berth. The Angels were 56-51 on the day of the 2023 Trade Deadline and in the thick of the Wild Card race, but faded down the stretch and finished 73-89.“

Arte Moreno is a fucking moron.

  4. I found that he brought up ’26 interesting. He’s always interested in next year but never 2 years from now

  5. He can expect anything he fucking wishes. The same thing will happen next year if he runs it like he always does. We overpay for mid tier or over the hill players with long ass contracts. We fucking had two of the greatest baseball players possibly to ever play the damn game and what did we get out of it? Jack shit. Dodgers are really loving how Art manages this team. Sho Time is alive and well playing October Baseball in the Ravine and the Angels are at home watching it. Fucking sell the team, you soulless ghoul. Bring back the California or the Anaheim Angels.

  6. Isn’t this the same interview he did with the OC Register a few days ago?

Either way FUCK YOU ARTE MORENO!

  7. Bro bringing up depth as if the ones who actually pay attention to the prospect pool can see it’s a puddle. I really hope he doesn’t look to just start selling guys off willy nilly for veteran rentals again trying to compete as if there’s much to sell off.

For Logan, Nolan, Neto, Soriano, Adell, Moniak, this past season was their first full MLB season then there’s a myriad of question marks about whether other guys can stay in the league, it’d be hasty to try to push the chips in already. Unless they just want to squeak into the playoffs for the sake of making the playoffs.

  8. “But we need to spend enough money, keep our fans engaged and for them to understand what we’re trying to accomplish. It’s not for a lack of trying.”

I’ve said this before but it would be nice if they gave examples if what they are spending money on. Because all we know is that their “spending” is going to vets on one and two-year deals. Yay…

  9. So either he is gonna throw 300 million at Pete Alonso or he is gonna turn into the Pollards or some shit.

  10. And I’m expecting to date Erica Weston in 2025. Guessing both of us are going to be disappointed.
